Remember, on Monday I asked you if you have a favourite mauve blush. I absolutely adore mauve shade and I think it looks exceptionally good as a blush. You won’t find too many mauve blushes on the market, especially for an affordable price. Nevertheless, I have found the one really like – NYX Ombre Blush in Mauve Me.
NYX Ombre Blush ($10.00) – Treat your cheeks to a radiant flush of color with our Ombré Blush, a new gradient blush inspired by the ombré trend. This must-have formula features two silky colors blended into one perfectly coordinated shade combo. (It’s like they were meant for each other.)
Each Ombre Blush comes in a black glossy plastic compact that houses both a full-sized mirror and a blush-duo. The amount of product you get is 8 g or 0.28 oz. The blush is currently available in 8 shades: Sweet Spring (blue toned pink/bright yellow toned pink), Insta Flame (matte nude/matte strawberry pink), Code Breaker (matte purple/hot pink), Mauve Me (shimmer lilac/shimmer mauve), Feel The Heat (shimmery gold/matte orange), Soft Flush (pink champagne/bright coral), Strictly Chic (shimmer light coral/shimmer deep coral) and Nude To Me (shimmery gold/bronze).
NYX Ombre Blush in Mauve Me is officially described as a combination of ‘shimmer lilac and shimmer mauve‘ and is a mix of a warm-toned baby pink colour with shimmery finish and a deeper neutral mauve colour with multicoloured shimmer and luminous finish. The amount of space each colour occupies is very uneven with the lightest colour to have only one-third of a compact with the two-thirds left for a mauve shade.
The texture of the blush is silky-smooth and moderately powdery. The brush picks up just the right amount of product so you won’t end up with a bright flush on your cheeks. The formula is very forgiving in this sense allowing you to vary the intensity of the blush as it is very buildable. It seems at first that you get two products in one but in reality the lighter shade only allows you to tone up the deeper colour as it is almost undetectable on the skin on its own. On the swatch below you may see each colour applied individually and mixed together (on the right).
I very rarely try to use the lighter shade on its own – may be for highlighting purposes only. More often than not I just swirl my brush in the pan all together to mix both shades and then apply it to the cheeks. I really like the neutral undertone of this blush as it makes it a perfect solution for everyone. It looks very natural on the skin and the luminous finish allows you to skip a highlighter if you prefer a subtle effect. It is almost impossible to over do this blush and I really like how smooth and even it applies to the skin.
I really like the new NYX Ombre Blushes and I now plan to get a few more – maybe Sweet Spring or Code Breaker.
