September was a very exciting month for me! My blog has reached the first 1000 subscribers and I’m incredibly happy and thankful for it! Makeup-wise September was full of new launches and some really amazing products that have been either new to me or exiting re-discoveries of mine!
I have to admit I still am pretty crazy about all the KIKO makeup – everything there seems to of an amazing quality and the prices are quite affordable. I’ve seen a few youtubers rave about the KIKO Milano Extra Sculpt Mascara and I decided to give it a try, but I got the Waterproof version as my eyes tend to be a bit teary lately. This is a wonderful mascara! It is not exactly like my all-time favourite Urban Decay Perversion Mascara but it comes close! It makes my lashes very voluminous and lengthened but in a messier way that I actually really like. It is my current favourite waterproof mascara!
My favourite discovery of the month is the NARS Dual-Intensity Blush in Adoration (reviewed here) – a gorgeous combination of a highlighter and a blush in one. It has the most unique formula that glides on the skin seamlessly leaving a stunning finish behind. Adoration features a beautiful cool-toned baby pink highlighter and a bright warm-toned cranberry blush the seem to compliment my skin quite a lot. This product is so incredibly easy to work with and it lasts for hours!
My go-to foundation in September was the Clarins Ever Matte Skin Balancing Foundation in 105 Nude. This is the best foundation for those with normal to oily or oily skin types as it makes your skin look oil-free and airbrushed for hours! I can’t get enough of it that’s how good this foundation is! The shade 105 Nude is a bit too light for me now but I can get away with it adding a touch of bronzer to the perimeter of my face. The finish is satiny matte that looks very natural and healthy. All other makeup products go on smoothly and last really well on this foundation. Love it!
As for the highlighters – the best ones are made by Sleek. A gorgeous, ethereal glow can easily be achieved with the Sleek MakeUP Highlighting Palette in Midas Touch (that is a limited edition, but is still available online, reviewed here). This palette features four highlighters – one cream and three powders. The shades are unique – you won’t find anything like it! (The Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild is close but lighter). I’ve never expected to fall in love with a blue highlight but I like to use it in the corner of the eye and together with other highlighters to add something extra to the look.
I’m always looking for a better concealer out there even though I have a few favourites already. Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer seemed to be a nice addition to my favourite Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation but turned out to be my most-used concealer after all. It has a very good formula that allows it to spread easily, blend seamlessly and last for 8+ hours. It has an amazing coverage and does not accentuate fine lines under my eyes. And the shade R30 is an amazing match for my skin as well.
KIKO Milano Blush Cocoa Shock (reviewed here) is among the most recent makeup launches. I have been incredibly happy with the shade 02 Silky Rose and Mauve as it is a perfect everyday blush that allows you to change both the intensity of a blush and its shade as you get two colours in one compact that work perfectly well together. The formula is powdery but quite silky that allows it to be applied beautifully on the skin. And it’s packaged as a chocolate bar – is there anything cuter?
I’ve been looking for a dupe to the Becca Backlight Priming Filter and have found two very close alternatives. One would be the KIKO Divine Tone Serum (that is a limited edition, unfortunately, reviewed here) and the second one is the Nature Republic Illuminating Glow in 02 (it comes in two colours, actually – opalescent and gold). The Illuminating Glow by a well-known Korean brand is a beautiful highlighting primer in a liquid form. It contains a huge amount of silver and gold shimmering particles that make the effect a little bit more intense compared to the Divine Tone. It leaves a beautiful golden glow on the skin that delicately peeks through the foundation and works as a very nice primer at the same time.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Tres Leches. These lip glosses have been out for quite a while now but I’ve never paid much attention to them as I have quite a few glosses in my collection and I’m not the biggest fan of the glosses overall. Intense Butter Glosses by NYX turned out to be a different story! These glosses are intensely pigmented, smooth, vanilla scented and are not at all sticky. I really like the Tres Leches shade as it is my perfect glossy nude. Beautiful!
Finally, there is a favourite fragrance of the month. Nina Ricci Luna (reviewed here) is not an unexpected member of my collection – it is sweet, gourmand and oriental – it is my kind of fragrance. I love everything about it from a gorgeous blue gradient bottle to its deep, comprehensive scent that balances in-between fresh notes of the orange blossom and seductive sweetness of vanilla and sandalwood. This fragrance is very special to me and I cannot imagine this fall without it!
All in all, I am very happy with all new products and discoveries that made it to my monthly favourites this time. I’m already looking forward to October and all the Holiday launches!
