Catrice lipstick formula is my favourite in the drugstore and their Ultimate Lipsticks are always trendy and the range has some extremely gorgeous shades! Catrice regularly updates the line adding season-appropriate shades with 3 new colours being released for Fall 2016.
Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick (€3.99) – Highly-pigmented, rich shades with perfect coverage and shine, plus a smooth, creamy and long-lasting texture: color at its most beautiful – that lasts for hours.
Catrice Ultimate Lipsticks come in a black patent plastic stick packaging with the name of each colour on the bottom. The amount of product you get is 3.8 g or 0.13 oz and you can use it for 36 months since you opened it. All lipsticks are made in Italy and have a slight perfumery scent to them.
Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick in 460 Cool Brown! is a deep maroon brown shade with glossy and creamy finish. This shade has enough of both brown and oxblood in it to turn either reddish or brownish depending on the lighting and sometimes reminds me of milk chocolate.
It is as creamy as the majority of Catrice lipsticks I’ve tried and glides on the lips like a dream. It is a darker shade and therefore it is harder to control and I suggest using a lip pencil underneath to avoid inaccurate contour. It is very moisturising and is a pleasure to wear. Cool Brown! lasted on me for about 4 hours before fading slightly.
Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick in 470 My Little Peony is a deep mulberry shade with ultra-glossy creamy finish. It glides on the lips smoothly and actually is quite easy to control so you can skip the lip liner. Even though the shade is dark it still has a touch of brightness to it and is a statement colour overall.
This is my favourite shade out of three because of its application and wear time characteristics. It has distinctive cool undertones to it and therefore compliments my skin tone. My Little Peony wore beautifully for almost 5 hours before the glossiness started disappearing. It took another hour for the colour to start fading.
Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick in 480 Red Said Black is a rich darkened oxblood red with ultra-glossy wet finish. It looks extremely dark in the tube and appears to be lighter on the lips. It looks brighter and clearly reddish in the direct light but turns into deep, almost black shade with slightly red undertones in shadow.
This is my favourite colour of the bunch but, unfortunately, it applies awfully. I’ve waited long enough for the drugstore to come up with such a gorgeous oxblood red statement shade but it is almost impossible to apply! There is something wrong with the formula of it that has nothing to do with the other two lipsticks featured above. It is too slippery and sets into lip lines almost immediately and therefore looks patchy and uneven. The only way to make it work is to wear it with the lip liner of a close colour. I am seriously sad that it performs that badly as I’ve never experienced anything like that with other Catrice lipsticks. It wore for 3,5 hours before turning into complete patchiness and mess.
If you love deep shades and opaque lipsticks for fall – I highly suggest giving Catrice Lipsticks in shades 460 Cool Brown! and 470 My Little Peony a try! But stay away from the 480 Red Said Black unless you are okay with using it with a lip liner.
