Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream (Review)

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream Review
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

I’m always on the hunt for good skin care products. If you do not take care of your skin properly no makeup is going to look descent on it. So it is an essential step for me. With my skin condition changing every season and jumping from combination to normal – it is quite struggle for me to find something that does it all in terms of hydration and not provoking any excess oil. One of my favourites is the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream ($27.50 for 1.7 fl oz) – helps reduce moisture loss while drawing and absorbing moisture from the air. With continuous posture replenishment throughout the day, leaves the skin smooth, soft and healthy-looking.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream comes in two options, both in jars – you can either get a 1.7 fl oz jar for $27.50 or a 4.2 fl oz jar for $47.50. The lid closes safely and prevents the cream from dying out. You are supposed to use the cream up in the course of 12 months since it is opened. The main ingredients are: Antarcticine, a glycoprotein, that is known to protect the skin from dryness, free-radicals and cold temperatures, Desert Plant Extract that contains ‘high concentration of potassium, which provides an immediate and lasting hydrating effect‘ and Squalane, a signature Kiehl’s ingredient, that has an ‘exceptional affinity to skin and helps restore skin’s natural moisture balance to keep it extra soft and supple‘.

Due to the fact that I have a combination skin type I tend to avoid oilier formulas but I still require my face cream to be able to provide enough hydration to the drier areas of my face like cheeks and chin. And Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream is a pretty good match in terms of meeting the needs of my skin. The product has a very soft gel-like creamy texture of a pure white color and a delicate creamy scent. It absorbs completely in a couple of minutes and does not leave an oily film on the skin.

In terms of hydration it is a perfect day-time cream. It leaves skin supple and smooth, helps with minor fine lines and acts as a very good makeup base. Its texture was a bit heavy for me during the summer but in fall when the weather is colder – it works perfectly fine. What I like the most about it is the fact that it can and should be used underneath makeup. Do you remember my review of the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner (reviewed here) that I absolutely love using it as a primer for my makeup? The cream works  the exact same way but it is more of a heavy duty product in this case – mainly because it also contains quite an amount of glycerin that makes any product a good primer.

Overall, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream has its permanent place in my skin care routine and I have already repurchased it twice. I usually go for the smaller jar as the usage is moderate and the bigger jar is likely to expire before I finish it. Other than that Ultra Facial Cream is very much worth having in your skin care stash. It is a good solution for a combination skin as it gives enough moisture to drier areas and does not overwhelm oilier areas with too much oils and does not clog pores as a result. And it is a perfect makeup primer!

Have you already tried the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream? Or anything from the Ultra Facial line? What is your favourite day-time moisturizer? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments down below.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea ❤

  1. This stuff sounds really good, I’ve been looking into this brand for a while now and they have so many different good products, it’s hard to chose what I want! 😀
