In one of my recent posts dedicated to makeup must-haves I intentionally skipped the blush for a very simple reason. Even out of quite a collection of blushes I’ve acquired over the years I still cannot chose the blush I can honestly name ‘the one’. I have a few favorites that are absolutely beautiful and even work wonderfully but there is no blush that I have to have no matter what. I wonder if you have an all-time favorite blush? Or still love a few equally like I do?
To put it out there – I prefer powder blushes to liquid and cream blushes. Powders are much easier for me to work with and can look as natural as liquids and creams if blended throughly. Though I would advise using a good blush brush – my two favorites are Zoeva Luxe Cheek Finish No. 126 and Sephora Pro Angled Brush No. 49 that are absolutely perfect to be used with any powder blush as these two allow you reach any desired intensity and have very soft bendable bristles.
The majority of my favorite blushes I’ve already reviewed so here’s a short summary of my impressions. For a very natural blush I usually go for either one of these two blushes. I love the Catrice Defining Blush in No. 080 Sunrose Avenue (reviewed here) that has the most beautiful mauve-pink color with a subtle sheen to it and a satin finish. As for my skin tone it is a perfect natural blush that works with any look. Another natural blush is the Sephora Blush in No. 02 So Shy! that has a very buildable formula and is a gorgeous pinky peachy shade with very finely milled golden shimmer and a soft golden sheen. It also wears beautifully for as long as I have my makeup on.
For a more visible effect I usually reach for Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush in No. 506 Blush (reviewed here) that has a soft medium peachy pink shade, a bit darker compared to the above mentioned Sephora blush, and a delicate golden sheen. Due its buildable coverage you can vary the color intensity from a very sheer kiss of color up to true-to-pan flush on your cheeks. I also equally enjoy using the Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in No. 01 Ginger Pop (reviewed here) on a regular basis. What I especially love about this blush is its formula. You won’t see anything like it on the market texture-wise. It is a warm-toned coral pink shade with luminous golden finish. Even though it is a powder – it is nowhere near powdery, applies evenly and lasts for a whole day.
And finally, for quite a dramatic effect I always use either one of these blushes. I really like Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush in Rapture (reviewed here) because of its deeper purple-mauve shade with this subtle shimmer it has. It also has a very variable intensity from a medium application up to full coverage so it will show up on many skin tones. And the second favorite of mine within this category is a stunning Sleek MakeUP Blush in Rose Gold (reviewed here). These blushes are intensely pigmented – use with caution. But that is the beauty of these blushes – the color pay-off is absolutely incredible! My favorite one is the Rose Gold because of its warm-toned peachy-pink color with a huge amount of finely milled golden shimmer. The finish is so reflective that it’s like a pinky blush is combined with the golden highlighter. So pretty!
Of course, these blushes are not the only ones I use. I have a few more favorites but I tend to use these particular blushes more often than the others. Do you have a must-have, all-time favorite blush? Share you favorites in the comments down below! I would really love to know!
Thank you very much for your attention.
Have an amazing day!
Hugs and kisses,
