Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Toner Review and Swatches
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner has been a part of morning skin care routine for quite a while now, but somehow I never got around to review it. To my mind this product deserves a review the most out of a huge range of amazing products by Kiehl’s. And there is a good reason why.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner ($16.00) – a mild yet effective facial toner for all skin types. It helps refine surface texture while providing the ideal preparation for classic Ultra Facial Moisturizer. Made with effective emollients Squalane, Apricot Kernel Oil, Avocado Oil and Vitamin E, this non-alcoholic toning formula gently removes surface debris and remaining residue while hydrating and comforting skin. pH-balanced for optimal comfort and will not over-dry or strip skin of its natural oils.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner is a part of the Ultra Facial skin care family that includes this toner, moisturizer, cleanser, cream, overnight hydrating masque and deep moisture balm. The whole collection is supposed to bring moisture back to your skin and is advertised as suitable to all skin types. This particular toner has a very mild creamy scent and a light milky consistency. It is not your typical toner as it is less liquid and reminds me more of a lotion than a toner. But at the same time it absorbs instantly and leaves no residue behind.

According to the directions on the bottle you should use it after cleansing. It is advised to moisten a cotton pad with toner and apply it to the face, avoiding the immediate eye area. Then you can follow with the Ultra Facial Moisturizer if desired. I usually do apply it with a cotton pad as it is still too runny to be used otherwise. It goes on smoothly and it takes it about half a minute to absorb that a good toner is supposed to do. It differs quite a lot from the Korean toners (that seem a lot like water) and from Clinique toners I’ve tired (these are quite alcohol-based). The main ingredients listed are water, glycerin and squalane – that is what makes it a wonderful product. It does hydrate the skin nicely and is an amazing toner to be used in combination with the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, that is my personal all-time favorite day-time face cream.

But it also has another awesome feature! Do you remember how much hype there was about the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm that is supposed to be a really good makeup primer? It does really work as it contains quite a lot of glycerin that is known to be a good sticky layer for all other products you apply over it. But it has such a manly scent (sorry!) that I do not like on me as it does not go anywhere even when it’s completely absorbed. But it sits nicely on men, though.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner is even better than the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm in terms of being a primer. It has a nice amount of glycerin (enough to be hydrating and sticky but no too much to dry your skin out) and it also contains squalane that is known to be a non-iritant emollient. I love using this toner to prime my face in the morning right before makeup. It makes all foundations stick to the face, blend beautifully and stay longer. Sometimes I pair it with either Kiehl’s Micro Blur Skin Perfector to minimize pores or with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream for even more hydrated and glowing skin. Love it!

Have you tried this toner? What do you think of the Ultra Facial line by Kiehl’s? Tell me in the comments down below!

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

  1. I’ve been seeing this at Nordstrom Rack for a super affordable price but I kept ignoring them. I might grab one next time I’m there.👍🏻
