Applying my makeup everyday I’ve noticed that there are some products that I not only use regularly but definitely prefer to all their alternatives. My makeup collection is not that huge but neither it is small so I’m not limited by a single product in each category and I have several products to choose from. So, it was really interesting to me to figure out products that I absolutely love and really enjoy using now!

My makeup preferences change quite often but there some products that are staying around no matter what. I have only recently purchased the Makeup For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation and I could have never thought that it is capable of replacing all my cream and liquid foundations. It has the most beautiful soft finish, it is completely full-coverage yet it is very blendable and looks very natural on the skin. The best powder to set any type of a foundation and especially the under-eye area is the NARS Soft Velvet Loose Powder, that I own in color Flesh. It is extremely finely milled and is quite translucent that makes it wearable all year round.

I cannot imagine doing my eye makeup without my all-time favorite NARS Pro-Prime Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base (reviewed here)! It is absolutely perfect and is irreplaceable, in my opinion. It makes all eyeshadows stay on longer and appear brighter. But I also love using it together with the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Creamy Mattes Eyeshadow in Creme De Rose (reviewed here) for even longer wear-time. This Maybelline eyeshadow is a perfect colored eyeshadow base but I love wearing it on its own as well! My favorite mascara duo is the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara and Urban Decay Subversion Primer (both reviewed here) that makes my lashes look ten times longer and ultra-volumized. It is a standard in my frame of reference – this is the highest rating from me and all other mascaras have to compete with these two to earn a place in my makeup collection. I also love MAC Pro Longwear Fluidline in Blacktrack and even though I have about ten felt-tip eyeliners and gel liners I still reach for this one if I want to have the blackest and sharpest winged liner ever.

As for the highlighter, you might have already guessed, it is the Sleek Highlighting Palette in Solstice (reviewed here) that I have recently reviewed. It is a perfect highlighting palette for my skin tone as the four highlighters in it go perfectly well with my light skin tone with cool pink undertones. All highlighters are buildable to almost out-of-this-world highlight and are blendable to a very sheer coverage at the same time. Perfect! My favorite crease color is the Clarins Ombre Matte Cream-to-Powder Matte Eyeshadow in Rosewood that is the most beautiful neutral brown shade that is buildable to full opacity but can be applied lightly for a very natural seamless effect.

As for the lips I cannot imagine my world without the NARS Lipstick in Damage (reviewed here) that gives your lips the most beautiful and natural pinkish purple tint. It is perfect and goes well with any makeup look and every outfit! Moreover, it is very hydrating and is a pleasure to wear. I love using it together with the Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in 14C Light Rosewood that is a gorgeous mauve-ish pink shade for your-lips-but-better effect.  For nude lips I always go for the MAC Satin Lipstick in Faux – a beautiful nice nude shade with neutral undertones that matches my skin tone perfectly and look marvelous on the lips!

There are still blank spots in my makeup must-haves. I have quite a lot of favorites but I am very picky when it comes to naming a product my makeup must have. I would be happy to hear your suggestions for a perfect concealer, primer (though I am currently loving the Kiehls Primer, but there might be something better), powder foundation, pencil eyeliner, blush, liquid lipstick and a lip gloss!

Share your current makeup must-haves in the comments down below along with your recommendations! I would really love to know!

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea❤

  1. That Clarins Ombre Matte Cream-to-Powder Matte Eyeshadow in Rosewood is gorgeous!
For recommendations on your gaps, here are some of mine:
Primer: Laura Mercier’s is really nice
Concealer: currently quite enjoying Nars Creamy concealer (review here: http://stashmatters.com/2016/07/12/review-nars-radiant-creamy-concealer/)
Pencil liner: Make Up For Ever Aqua liner
Blush: have you tried Shiseido’s blushes? I’ve fallen back in love with mine
    Hope that helps! ❤

    1. Laura Mercier primers are praised by many, I should definitely give them a go 🙂 I have the Nars Creamy Concealers (in 2 shades!) but they crease on me every time no matter how thoroughly I set my under-eyes! But I love them for spot-concealing nevertheless! I have quite a few of Aqua-Liner and I love them but mostly for tight-lining, though.. I have never tried Shiseido blushes! What are favorite shades?? Thank you os much for your recommendations, Stashy! ❤

      1. My favourite Shiseido blush… that’s a difficult question! I have 4 colours and my current favourite is RD401 Orchid (coral). I also love OR308 Starfish (peach). But I also really love the other 2: PK304 Carnation (pink) and RD103 Petal (rose). I wear them and I can’t choose! 😉
        Here are swatches:

They apply very easily and lasts all day on my cheeks!

  2. It’s really interesting to see your faves and must-haves 🙂

My absolutely favourite highlighter is BeccaXJaclyn Hill ‘Champagne Pop’: honestly, I can’t live without that little gem that goes on top of my Illamasqua skin base in white to help it stick to my annoyingly dry skin.

I use the same eye primer as you, but on my difficult eyes, I don’t find that it really makes my eyeshadow brighter, and I still have to use concealer and powder underneath (God…it sounds like a right hassle, doesn’t it? Lol)
I’ll look into the maybelline tattoo eye shadow as I’m all for making my eyeshadow stay on my oily eyelids.
It’s that bad that I do my left eye and by the time I’ve done my right (five mins!) it’s creased and faded.

My Morphe 350S and 350M palettes are my babies: I’d keep them in a glass case if I could. LOVE my Morphe concealer too on my resilient blemishes, I’d highly recommend it!

Tom Ford’s cream Eyeshadows are beautiful and I use them along with Dr. Lipp’s balm to create a sexy sheen to my eyelids.
Also, I’m a HUGE pigment fan and own so many.

Giorgio Armani ‘Maestro Glow’ Foundation is amazing and I’m actually running out, but hate shelling out £40 for a tiny bottle…
Have you tried Natasha Denona’s Face Glow foundation by any chance? I’d love to know how good it is.

I use two mascaras, which are Benefit’s ‘Rollerlash’ and I then use Too Faced’s ‘Better Than Sex’.

Reading this back, I can see why people say that doing my make up is a chore lol!
All of this along with four face primers, three layers of moisturiser and many layers of bronzer…I still look as pale as a ghost as my skin seems to absorb everything.

Oh! If you want a good liquid lippie, I’d suggest LA Splash and Beauty Bakerie for longevity and Aromi’s liquid lippies are so beautiful and smell/taste like vanilla cupcakes ❤
Powder foundation is a struggle with my dry skin, so I just use Urban Decay's with a wet beauty blender.
Burberry's lip glosses are gorgeous and non-stickey.

Sorry sweetie, I'll wrap this up as I'm rambling 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for such a detailed response, Ana! 😀 😀 😀 I am so happy you’ve found my post interesting 🙂 I’ve heard so many good things about this Becca highlighter and I own the one in Opal – love the texture and shine so much! Maybe I’ll get around to purchasing it one day but the fact that it is so hyped up about makes me hesitate, honestly. I’m so sorry to hear that you have to cope with such an oiliness on the lids – oils are a signal that your skin may be dehydrated and requires moisture. Maybe this idea could be helpful for you :/ Morphe palettes are beautiful, totally agree with you 🙂 I love pigments as well but they could be so messy sometimes 😉 Giorgio Armani foundation are so pricey… I have the Luminous Silk one and I love it but I don’t think that I can justify a re-purchase when the time comes :/ I’ve tried Benefit Roller Lash mascara and liked it but I still prefer the Urban Decay duo. Being pale isn’t bad. Almost white, snow-like skin is extremely popular in Asia 😉 Thanks for a suggestion on liquid lipsticks! I’ve been looking for a perfect option for so long now.. I really like the Urban Decay powder foundation quite a lot but it still isn’t my must-have, though it is amazing! I’ll give these Burberry lip glosses a try! 😀 Thank you again for participating! 🙂
