Although the weather has already changed for the opposite, this summer was extremely hot and humid. Wearing foundations turns into a pure torture as it makes my skin produce more oils and sweat and as a result my makeup looks messy and patchy and my skin feels clogged and suffocating. So instead of the liquid foundation, I was regularly reaching for my powders.
I love powder foundations for very variable and lightweight coverage, easy application and mattifying effect. My favorites have been Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra-Definition Powder Foundation in Light Neutral (reviewed here), MAC Studio Fix Powder in NW20 and my most recently purchased Kiko Sunshine Powder Foundation SPF 20 in Natural. All three powders are very finely milled, have very natural finish and coverage differs from light up to full but it is never heavy. These powders are absolutely undetectable on the skin that makes them perfectly appropriate for summer months. I feel like my skin can literally breath under this type of foundation and it is crucial to me. I cannot imagine having a liquid or cream foundation on my skin when temperature outdoors is that high. And powders do mattify the skin that is a must for my combination skin type.
