I have recently been moving house and therefore I’ve had to deal with my makeup collection. While sorting my makeup out I remembered the first ever makeup product I got and then I started thinking of how much everything had changed over time. So, I wonder – how old were you when you first started using makeup? What was your first ever makeup purchase/gift?

I have always been fascinated by makeup – ever since I was a little kid. I was mesmerized looking at my mom applying makeup every morning and I genuinely thought that was an essential everyday ritualΒ of a woman and couldn’t wait to start using makeup myself. Everything seemed beautiful about makeup to me – colors, textures, bottles, scents.

The first ever makeup productΒ I got was a gift from my mom on my 16th birthday. It was a lipgloss of a very light milky pink shade that instantly became my little treasure that I used up to its very last bit in a couple of months as I just couldn’t leave it alone. Since then I knew – makeup was definitely something I couldn’t escape being passionate about.

So, what is your story behind your love for makeup? What was the first makeup product you tried? How old were you then?

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea

  1. I was 13, and I got the cutest eyeshadow palette housed in a plastic cute bear by the italian brand Pupa. It was a birthday gift from a friend, and had 6 rosey-purpley shades, so I would love it even now, 12 years later, since those are still my favourite eyeshadow colours πŸ™‚
But I mostly played with it at home back then, and really wearing (in public) only the lightest pink shade with a bit of mascara on some special ocassions. I really started using makeup a year and a half later, in the summer before highschool. The darkest purple shade from that palette became my rock-girl statement, so it’s funny how I went from the lightest to the darkest shade in that palette, simply skipping the shades in between xD

    1. Such a beautiful story πŸ™‚ I wasn’t actively using makeup till I was 22 – before then I usually used a very light eyeshadow shade together with a bit of mascara and a lip gloss. My makeup collection started growing as soon as I started working and earning money πŸ˜€ I can’t say that I still prefer the shades I used when I was younger but I definitely lean towards nude-ish lip colors nevertheless πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ By the way, Pupa was the brand my mom used and I still remember this huge multi-colored red oval palette that housed everything from eyeshadow to lipstick! It was absolutely gorgeous! ❀

  2. I wish I had a cute story on how I got into makeup haha. My middle school never allowed us too so when I got to HighSchool I was so happy that I finally could! I started watching youtube tutorials on makeup but never had money to get all the good makeup products so I mainly wore mascara. I remember the first one I got was the great lash mascara, I feel like that’s a lot of people’s first mascara haha. Now I have more money to experiment more πŸ™‚

I have a series on budget makeup – where you can find some amazing products at a very affordable price! Experimenting with makeup is so exciting, isn’t it? πŸ˜€
