Question of the Day: What are the steps of your nighttime skincare routine?

Nighttime skincare routine is essential for me. Whenever I skip this important step – I always end up with dry and patchy skin that makes makeup application almost impossible. At the same time I do have dry to combination skin with drier skin on the cheeks and oilier t-zone. So I have to be very careful and precise with what products I include into my nighttime skincare routine and what steps I have to go through every night.

Cleansing is a key to very clean, spotless skin free of any imperfections. I never ever skip this step though the products I use may vary significantly depending on what product I have at hand at the moment. The most important thing is that the cleanser should make my skin squeaky-clean. I really like Enesti and Tony Moly cleansers as these do the job perfectly.

The next step is very important as well. I love using toners to balance out my skin, to add additional moisture and to prepare my skin to further skincare application. My current choice is The Face Shop Green Tea Oil Free Toner that is aimed at skin hydration and contains no oil at the same time. This toner makes my cheek skin moisturized and do not add any excessive oils to my forehead.

Then I prefer to apply one pump of It’s Skin Power 10 Formula Li Effector serum that contains licorice that helps with redness and prevents break-outs. This is a skincare discovery of mine – I used to suffer from occasional hormonal break-outs that are now pretty much under control.

As for my nighttime moisturizer – I’m currently using the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ as it works absolutely fine with both toner and serum mentioned above. Though I can occasionally switch things up and use either Origins GinZing Energy-boosting Moisturizer or The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalizing Cream.

If I want to have brighter eyes in the morning and nice, smooth lips I have to take care of them at night. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye is a very light-weight tingly eye cream that helps a lot with dark-circles and de-puffs the area significantly. I always use it at night and it makes the under-eye skin so smooth and ready for makeup the next morning. I’ve been looking for a perfect lip balm for ages until I tried the Kiehl’s Scented Lip Balm #1 in Cranberry. It changed the life of my lips significantly. I have forgotten what chapped lips are and I now enjoy using all matte liquid lipsticks as my lips remain moisturized and supple throughout the day.

I also have to mention the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – my most recent purchase, skincare wise. Although I have been using it for about two weeks now I do really enjoy it. It is more like an emergency skincare for me as it is a good alternative to all of the products mentioned above. I use it whenever I am to tired to go through all the steps or when I have no time for it. I have been very curious about oils for quite some time now and I do really enjoy using it for my combination skin.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,
