Today I decided to create a makeup look for the upcoming Valentine’s Day. A couple of days ago I asked you whether you were going to do anything specific for that day. And opinions got divided – red lips, no makeup at all or manicure only. I personally cannot imagine a day out without my makeup on (though any option is absolutely fine!) and I decided to go for a very neutral soft smoky eye and reddish lips. I hope you’ll love it and it may even be an inspiration for you!
I have recently purchased the gorgeous Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette and I have to admit that it is absolutely marvelous! The eyeshadows I’ve already tried are awesome – they perform wonderfully on an eyeshadow base, blend easily and have a very good color pay-off. The majority of eyeshadows within this palette are as good as the eyeshadows in Naked 2 and 3 and that says a lot. I went for a nice neutral look that is quite easy to recreate – and this palette if a perfect option for such looks as the two rows of eyeshadows out of three are very natural. I placed a mix of Stark and Anaheim right in the crease and followed with Punk slowly building it up from the outer edge to the crease. This allowed me to create a very nice and blended gradient effect on the eye leaving the lid center space blank. Even though I wanted to have a very neutral look I still imagined it very festive – that is why I applied a ton of Pop eyeshadow wet to intensify the sparkle and make the eye look ‘pop’! As for mascara I used my all-time favorite and an absolutely makeup staple – Urban Decay Perversion/Subversion Duo that creates an almost false lash effect on me!
I wanted to keep the eye look quite simple but I couldn’t skip the liner becauseI love how my eyes look when framed with a nice black liner. I used the Catrice Waterproof Liquid Liner because it has the thinnest ever felt tip that allows you to easily draw the most precise line and to control the whole process so the both liners turn out the same. For my concealer I chose the tried and true Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment in Light and set it with the Yves Rocher Velvet Finish Loose Powder which works like a wonder!
I wouldn’t go into much detail about my foundation as I am planning to make a whole post on it very soon. The foundation I used for this look was the Sephora Wonderful Cushion Glowy Natural Finish Cushion Foundation that had recently been launched due to the cushion-hype world wide. It has a very nice and natural finish and I also set it with the Yves Rocher powder. The blush for this look was the Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush in 506 Blush – that is the most beautiful natural looking blush I’ve ever tried! It is so silky and smooth that it blends in with the skin and is easy to work with. I skipped the bronzer as I wanted the complexion to be quite light and glowy and went for a very sparkly highlighter instead. NARS Highlighting Blush in Miss Liberty is a the cutes ever glittery highlighter that instantly adds festivity to the look! Love it!
I also love red lips but I believe that the a red lipstick or a lip gloss are a bit too edgy for such a romantic day. Instead I used the Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Liner in 14C and NARS Lip Gloss in Dolce Vita to create a very long-wearing combination that stays put for hours yet keeps your lips moisturized and supple. These lip pencil and lip gloss are a perfect match to one another and the shade is absolutely gorgeous! It is a darkened rose that looks very flattering on everyone.
You are very welcome to share your ideas on makeup looks for the Valentine’s Day! I would really love to see what looks you come up with!
Thank you very much for your attention.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Hugs and kisses,
