Winter holidays is a special time for my family as we usually spend holidays all together and celebrate both Christmas and New Year’s Eve. I love to have a very natural yet sophisticated makeup look for family events. This time I have chosen the Nars Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette as my inspiration – it has all the gorgeous neutral shades I needed .
I love how flawless the eye look came out with this palette! For the eyes I used a mix of cool-toned brown Ursa Major and purple Subra from the palette. Although, both shades seem quite shimmery in the palette – these swatch almost matte when applied dry with a light hand. Both shades allowed me to create a beautiful crease shade with a nice soft gradient. I applied the beautiful bronze gold shade Himalia all over the lid with the dampened brush to intensify the shine and added just a bit of the peachy-pink Europa right in the center of the lid to imitate the soft halo effect. To darken the outer edge of the eye I reached for the deep black Sycorax as it blends in beautifully with the rest of the eyeshadows.
For my liner I decided to use the Guerlain Liquid Eyeliner in shade 05 Brown. It has the most precise brush tip that allows you to create the thinnest ever lines and has a wonderful transfer-proof formula. To make my lower lash line stand out just a bit I used the limited-edition MAC Fluidline in Deliciously Rich that has a soft brown base packed with tons of gold glitter. It does not go that opaque in one stroke and requires to be built up to desired intensity.
For my lashes I went for the tried and true Lancome Grandiose Wide-Angle Fan Affect Mascara in Black. It has the funniest ever swan-neck wand that is actually quite comfortable to use. It allows to coat all your lashes evenly and helps to curl your lashes at the same time. I would say it is my second favorite mascara right after the Urban Decay Perversion/Subversion mascara duo. It also builds quite a lot of volume and length and it a good all-in-one option if you prefer to skip a lash primer.
For my face makeup I went for the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in shade Light 2 Mont Blanc that is a perfect match to my NW20 skin now. I love the ultra-luqidy formula that feels like absolutely nothing on the skin yet lasts for hours in a perfect condition. I set it with one of my most favorite powders ever – Catrice All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder in shade 015 Natural. I like this powder for my forehead and nose area especially as it does help with shine a lot and it is a perfect choice for my dry-to-combination skin as this powder does not dry out other areas of the face while keeping shine at bay.
For my contour and bronzer I used the NARS Tahiti Bronzer Laguna Bronzing Palette that comes with the cutes ever NARS Ita Kabuki Brush that actually is a nice contour brush. And for the blush I decided to use the limited edition NARS Blush in Love, that has the most natural peachy-mauve shade that can easily compliment any skin tone and is suitable for every makeup look. I highlighted my cheeks, nose bridge and forehead with the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle, a gentle champagne gold highlighter. As for the lips – I thought that it might be a good idea to balance out the glowing skin and shimmering eye look with a bit of a matte lip – something like the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bettina that is matte but is not drying.
What kind of makeup look did you go for the New Year’s Eve or Christmas?
Thank you very much for your attention.
Happy New Year!
