NARS is known for innovative makeup they produce. One of the most recent innovations would be the already famous and popular dual-intensity eyeshadows. These eyeshadows have already won over the majority of makeup lovers because of the amazing quality, gorgeous shades, outstanding payoff and exquisite blendability. What can be better than an eyeshadow palette packed with this gems multiplied by eight?
NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette ($79.00). One to watch. Eight to swatch. Eight shades of mesmerizing Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow. Apply dry for sheer color or with a dampened brush for a high-impact finish.
NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette comes in a beautifully designed packaging. It features a mirrored cover with the NARSissist logo on it and the rest os the palette is made of a high-qialuty black matte plastic that is quite sturdy and is quite nice to touch. The amount of product you get is 0.03 oz or 1 g of each eyeshadow that totals in 0.24 oz or 8 g of total eyeshadow weight. That is a decent amount of product as you get about the same amount of product with each of the Naked palettes by Urban Decay (1.3 g).
There is a huge full-sized mirror inside the palette. Eight eyeshadows take up to three quarters of the palette that leaves a place for a NARS #49 Wet/Dry Eyeshadow Brush that is actually of an excellent quality. It works really nice with these eyeshadows and it is actually the full-sized NARS #49 Brush but with a short handle. This brush alone costs $28.00.
You can also purchase each of the dual-intensity eyeshadows (with the exception of Ursa Major, that is exclusive to the palette) separately for $29.00 each. With the full-sized eyeshadow you get 0.05 oz or 1.5 g of product.
The swatch above features all eight shades from the palette. All eyeshadows are applied dry over the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base.
Top row, from left to right:
Europa is officially described as a ‘gossamer pink peach‘ and is a light peachy pink shade with tons of pink shimmer that translates into soft shimmery finish when applied dry and turns very metallic when applied wet.
Himalia is officially described as a ‘shimmering topaz‘ and is a light bronze gold shade packed with tons of finely milled gold and silver shimmer that makes it appear more neutral than warm-toned on the skin. The finish is frosty when applied dry and metallic when applied wet.
Ursa Major is exclusive to this palette. It is officially described as a ‘chocolate glaze‘ and is a medium-deep cool-toned brown shade with a huge amount of extremely finely milled, almost undetectable multi-colored shimmer that results in a satin finish with a beautiful sheen when this shade is applied with a dampened brush.
Subra is officially described as a ‘black orchid‘ and is a gorgeous deep dark purple shade with huge amount of finely milled silver, pink and gold shimmer that gives it a gorgeous soft sheen on the skin. The color is obviously more intense when this shade is applied wet.
Bottom row, from left to right:
Andromeda is officially described as an ‘alabaster‘ and is a very light beige shade with strong pink undertones and a huge amount of extremely finely milled gold shimmer that makes it appear pearly on the skin. A beautiful highlighting shade.
Lysithea is officially described as ‘shark grey‘ and is a gunmetal silvery grey shade with a ton of silver glitter that results in a glittery finish when applied dry and seems to be more on a metallic side when applied wet.
Giove is officially described as ‘navy‘ and is a deep and rich royal blue shade with tons of finely milled light blue, pink and purple shimmer that adds a gorgeous sheen to it when applied wet. It seems to have a black base that makes it appear more on a grey-ish side when applied dry.
Sycorax is officially described as ‘black‘ in is a rich black shade with a high amount of silvery-grey shimmer that is barley visible in the pan but still adds a lot of pearl sheen to the shade. Syrocrax appears almost matte when applied wet and have a beautiful satin finish when applied damp.
As all eyeshadows in the palette are shimmery it may seem almost impossible to create a complete look with it. But it is not true. Four shades out of eight appear to be more for less matte when applied dry as these barely have any sheen – Ursa Major, Subra, Giove and Sycorax. You can easily use any of these shades as crease colors and for the makeup look above I used a combination of Ursa Major and Subra in my crease. I also darkened the outer corner of the eye with the black Sycorax.
For more intense shine you can use either of the eyeshadows wet and I used the Himalia shade all over the lid with the Europa right in the center of the eye for a smooth halo effect. All shades work nice together – they blend marvelously and allow you to have the most flawless and sophisticated look ever as you cannot see any of the eyeshadow lines and get the most beautiful gradient effect you can imagine. Andromeda is an amazing brow bone and inner corner highlighter and I used it in this look as well.
This palette gets the highest rating from me for how easy it is to use and how flawless my makeup looks when I use it. All dual-intensity eyeshadows last on me for as long as I wear my makeup (for at least eight to nine hours) and I always use the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base with all my eyeshadows.
NARS NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette is still available for purchase on NARS official website and on Sephora website. If you only like a few of the eyeshadows – you can purchase the shades you like separately – NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow is available in 14 shades.
Thank you very much for your attention.
