I have been talking about Catrice Cosmetics a lot lately – mainly because I really love their products. Catrice manages to combine a high quality of their products, nice packaging and affordable price. This rarely happens in the drugstore as there is always something missing. Anyway, I have already accumulated enough single eyeshadows from the brand to finally write a full review on the whole range.
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour Mono (€2,79) features a diverse colour spectrum, long durability, high coverage and various effects in matt, shimmering or pearly. Inspired by the looks at the international fashion shows, the Eyeshadows are available in various nuances ranging from soft nudes to bold shades for a bright and colour-intensive finish.
Currently, there are 24 eyeshadows in the range. The finishes vary from mattes to satins, from soft shimmer to glitters. I love how diverse Catrice eyeshadows are and how wearable even bold colour turn to be. I have eight eyeshadows from the range – the majority should still be available for purchase. As all eyeshadows have numbers I will be reviewing them in a numerical order for convenience and I’ll insert a huge comparison swatch at the end of the post.
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in Starlight Expresso (Permanent) is beautiful cool-toned brown shade with a completely matte finish. Although there is nothing written on the packaging – it still says matte on the eyeshadow itself (embossment) that makes it easier to identify matte eyeshadows within the range when you are looking for these eyeshadows in store. The formula is quite powdery and is ultra-soft therefore the usage is not moderate neither it is extensive. It goes on perfectly nice and opaque in a single swipe and is easy to build up to intensify the colour.
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in My First Copperware Party (Permanent) is a medium dark brown shade with slightly burgundy undertones and a soft shimmery finish. It has a wonderful soft powdery texture and is easy to use. It goes opaque in one pass and delivers a lot of colour instantly. Even though it is shimmery – the finish is quite soft that makes it a beautiful crease shade as well.
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in I Like To Mauve It is a bright cool-toned lilac shade with tons of ultra-fine silver shimmer that translates into a strong metallic sheen on the skin. The shade has an amazing colour pay-off and goes one perfectly opaque in a single swipe. The formula feels almost creamy to touch and you have to use a light hand with it.
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in Shade Of Gray (New) is a medium-dark silvery gray shade with extremely finely milled silver shimmer and a soft pearl finish. It is very pigmented although it is easy to apply this particular shade more or less sheer if you use a light hand with it. I love to use this color as my transition shade with cool-toned looks and it works perfectly fine and looks very unique.
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in Papaya Don’t Preach (New) is a gorgeous light peachy-orange shade with tons of finely milled gold shimmer and a beautiful soft pearly finish. It is favorite of mine as don not have anything close in my collection. It is an amazing crease shade for warmer looks as it goes satin-matte if sheered out but is easily biuldable. This eyeshadow delivers a lot of colour in a single swipe as it is intensely pigmented.
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in The Beauty And The Beige (Permanent) is a light warm-toned whitened beige shade with tons of silver shimmer and a soft metallic sheen. This is another favorite of mine as I use it as my brow bone highlighter almost everyday. This one is intensely pigmented but is easy to be used moderately. The soft metallic sheen makes it a perfect inner corner highlighter if desired. Amazing shade!
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in The Cover Of PastELLE (Permanent) is a light cool-toned pink shade with strong lilac undertones and a soft metallic finish as it is intensely packed with finely milled silver shimmer. It is another beautiful highlighting shade that is easy to be used both lightly and intensely.
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in Li-La Bamba is a warm-toned medium-dark purple shade with tons of silver glitter of different size. As a result it has a strong glittery finish. It was a bit of a disappointment of mine as it does not go as pigmented as the other shades I’ve tried. As it is glittery this eyeshadow is not that opaque in one pass and may seem patchy. It is best applied over a good eyeshadow base. But I love how it looks when applied wet! Wet application changes it appearance completely. It becomes a gorgeous shimmery-mettalic shade and looks amazing as all-over eyeshadow.
Overall, I have to say that I am more than impressed with Catrice eyeshadows! These last on me for around 8 to 9 hours over an eyeshadows base (I love NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base). I love how buttery-smooth Catrice single eyeshadows are, how pigmented these come out and how easy to use these turned out to be. These eyeshadows (or at least a huge majority of them!) are the best drugstore eyeshadows I’ve tried up to date. Even the Li-La Bamba is not a complete miss for me as it looks amazing when applied wet. I would totally recommend trying mattes, satins and metallics from the range as these swatch and act perfectly fine. The range is quite extensive and all shades are very wearable on everyday basis. Very well done, Catrice!
