Mini-Review: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle

I believe that a highlighter is a genius makeup invention. There is nothing better (makeup-related) that can instantly make your skin look glowing and luminous, fresh and well-rested. All highlighters are different and I am really happy that we now have a huge variety of brands and formulas to choose from. One of my recent purchases is MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle that is just stunning!

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish ($32.0) is a luxurious powder with 77-Mineral Complex that adds highlights to the face and body.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle comes in a black sturdy plastic compact with the partly transparent lid. I am not a fan of the new packaging because it is a bit harder to open that the previous one. Although, it looks modern and stylish. With this highlighter you get 10 g or 0.35 us oz of product – compared to 8 g or 0.28 oz that you get with each Becca pressed highlighter.

MAC Soft and Gentle is officially described as ‘gilded peach bronze‘ and is a light champagne gold shade with strong peachy-pink undertones and tons of finely milled shimmer. The finish is more on the shimmery side and is less metallic.

The formula of Mineralize Skinfinishes is one of my favorite ones as it is almost creamy to touch. This highlighter is really easy to use. The brush picks up just the right amount of product for a subtle highlight but it is buildable up to almost reflective mirror shine on the skin. It lasts for seven to eight hours on my skin before it starts fading a bit.

It leans pinker on my skin when swatched and it is way more pinker/peachier compared to other golden-bronze highlighters I own. I’ve compared it to Becca Opal (bronzier, more finely milled), MAC Oh, Darling (not as pink, straight gold with metallic finish) and The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer (lighter, not as pink, more champagne shade with golden sheen).

MAC Soft and Gentle highlighter looks absolutely beautiful on the skin. It is a gorgeous highlighter for those with light to deeper skintones as it is not too light neither it is too dark to be used on a huge variety of skin tones. It has been a favorite of makeup community for so many years for a very good reason. It is an amazing shade as well as it is extremely easy to apply and build up and it lasts for a good amount of time on the skin. I totally recommend checking it out if you don’t own it yet. It is one of the best highlighters on the market!

Do you already own this highlighter? Or have you ever tried it? What do you think of it? Let me know in the comments down below!

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea

    1. You’re very welcome! I love comparison swatches as this helps a lot with deciding if you do really need a product 🙂 Soft&Gentle does differ a lot from the other three and it looks different applied to the face – it’s more of a golden-rose than the others are 🙂
