New In: MAC Lustre Drops

MAC has some amazing collaboration collections this year. The most recent one is the Ellie Goulding collection. The majority of the collection present unique and never-seen before makeup items. But there is an amazing repromoted highlighter among the newbies there – MAC Lustre Drops that has been a part of the MAC Rihanna collection a couple of years ago.

MAC Lustre Drops ($21.00) is a highlighter that accents cheeks with the radiance of a day in the sun.

It is limited edition as it has been before and now comes in a single shade – Pink Rebel. Nevertheless, I am going to show you two shades for comparison and for future reference in case the the second shade (Sun Rush) gets repromoted as it has happened with the Pink Rebel.

MAC Lustre Drops is a liquid highlighter that comes in a transparent plastic squeeze-tube with a black cap and a needle-thin dropper that allows you to get even the tiniest amount of product. Both highlighters are quite runny and are very pigmented. You do not need much of the product for a delicate highlight. You can use both products as a liquid highlighter or to mix it with your foundation to make it more luminous. The amount of product you get us 18 ml or 0.60 US fl oz.

MAC Lustre Drops in Pink Rebel Review

MAC Lustre Drops in Pink Rebel is officially described as ‘blue pink with gold pearl‘ and it is a light pink base with neutral undertones and tons of gold shimmer. It has a pearly finish. It is a favorite of mine because it looks beautiful on fair and light skintones. It is also amazing when mixed in with the foundation as it instantly adds a lot of delicate glow to it.

MAC Lustre Drops in Sun Rush is officially described as ‘peachy bronze with gold pearl‘ and it is a medium-dark bronze gold shade with strong yellow undertones and tons of gold shimmer. The finish is pearly as well. It is a perfect highlighting shade for those with light-to-medium and medium skin tones. It also works perfectly well with foundations.

MAC Lustre Drops in Pink Rebel and Sun Rush (swatches)

Both shades obviously lean warm-toned because of the amount of the gold shimmer these contain. I use Pink Rebel more often because it suits my current skin tone better. Nevertheless, I love the Sun Rush in summer when my skin is tan as it adds just the right amount of glow to the skin. Sun Rush is currently unavailable (at least on US and UK websites) and I believe it’s been discontinued. The Pink Rebel has been repromoted and is currently available for purchase as it is a part of the Ellie Goulding collection. If you like Nars Illuminators – you will like MAC Lustre Drops as these products are quite similar (but shades are very different so there are no dupes).

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea

  1. Thank you so much for doing an in-depth review of these!
I’ve been frantically looking on various blogs, but none are as good as this post is about explaining the colour and use.

I was on the fence about purchasing Pink Rebel (after splurging on a lot of other make up products over the past few days xD) but you’ve convinced me that this will suit my very fair colouring.
I’m a huge fan of adding oils and glow-enhancing products to my foundation, so it’ll be perfect for me.

Thanks once again for reviewing x
