Makeup Staple: Zoeva Smoky Eyeshadow Palette

Smoky eyes have been not just a huge trend in makeup but a classic makeup look for more than a decade now. Nevertheless, makeup producers have only recently decided to start producing palettes for smoky eye looks – palettes that combine mattes, satins and shimmers darkened for a soft yet sultry eye look. One of my favorite eyeshadow palettes for that type of makeup is the Zoeva Smoky Eyeshadow Palette, that is also a perfect eyeshadow palette for every day makeup as well.

Zoeva Smoky Eyeshadow Palette ($21.50). In the darkness, there appears to be a mystical range of colors. A whole other world is coming to life. With  ZOEVA Smoky Palette you chose to focus on the eyes with a touch of mystery. Deep, dark, rich midnight shades for the nocturnal beauty in you. Resist anything except temptation.

Zoeva Smoky Eyeshadow Palette provides you with ten eyeshadows – five in each row. The finishes are stated to be matte, pearl and metallic. With this palette you get 15 g or 0.5 oz of product as each eyeshadow weighs 1.5 g or 0.05 oz. The size of the eyeshadow pan is equal to a 2-Euro coin or 2.5 cm. All eyeshadows in this palette are intensely pigmented, not powdery and had a very good color pay-off. There is no creasing or fading on eyeshadow base and all of the shadows last for more than 10 hours on me. The packaging is cardboard as it is with all Zoeva palettes but is very nicely designed and is quite sturdy.

Relieve The Moon is a creamy beige shade with a slightly pearl finish. It is a very light shade and it barely shows on my skin yet it is a good all over shade to set the concealer or an eyeshadow base if you use it for your eye makeup. It barely has any sheen to it and appears somewhat matte on the skin.

Sleep To Dream is a cool toned medium-light grey taupe shade with slightly purple undertones and a completely matte finish.

Soul Searching is a bright bronzy taupe shade with a strong metallic finish.

Sweet Smell is a medium-dark warm-toned cinnamon-y caramel shade with a completely matte finish.

Dark Edge is a rich warm-toned khaki green shade with slightly yellow undertones and finely milled yellow shimmer that translates into a soft metallic sheen on the skin.

With the help of my lovely sister Sophie (model) I’ve created a look for you to show how these eyeshadows perform in real life. All eyeshadows are applied over the Nars Smudge Proof eyeshadow base that is my absolute favorite and another makeup staple of mine (full review here).

Fir this look I mixed Dust & Memories, Sleep To Dream and Smoky Wishes to create a unique crease shade. As the majority of shades are mattes – it is very easy to make a nice crease and an almost matte look. Yet you have two amazing almost metallic shades like Soul Searching and Dark Edge to amp up the look if needed. In this case I used Soul Searching as all over shade and mixed Elegant Chaos with Real Light to smoke out the edges. I also used the Sleep To Dream shade on the lower lashes.

This palette is my makeup staple for many reasons. First of all, all (each and every one!) eyeshadows perform wonderfully, blend easily and stay on my eyes forever! Secondly, this palette has 8 matte shadows of a very high quality that seem to be a rare thing nowadays. And in the third place, this palette allows you to create tons of different smoky eye looks that do not tend to look all the same (unlike other smoky palettes that look like a grey mess no matter what shades you use). All shades in this palette differ from one another and you won’t mistake them on the eyes. I strongly recommend considering this palette if you want to have a good eyeshadow palette for smoky eye looks. It is also an amazing alternative (an an almost complete dupe!) to Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette because it is better, way better – and I like my UD Smoky palette. So, you can imagine how much I love Zoeva Smoky palette then. Excellent product – well done, Zoeva, very well done!

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea

    1. Thank you so, so much! 😀 😀 😀 Glad you liked the look! Coca Blend is absolutely perfect and these two with the addition of Mixed Metals and Retro Future are my personal favorites! ❤
