MAC In Extra Dimension Skinfinishes have caused such a buzz this year! Everyone has been hunting these highlighters and these seem to be sold out almost everywhere. I was really curious what is so extraordinary about these highlighters and if there any close dupes to them. As long as I do not need any more bronzers right now I decided to skip the bronze Shaft Of Gold and got only the Oh, Darling only.
MAC In Extra Dimension Skinfinish ($33.00) in Oh, Darling is a liquid-powder highlighter that gives a luminous, well-defined finish. In Extra Dimension Skinfinish adds the perfect high-impact shimmering glow to skin. The creamy formula is designed to last up to 10 hours. Special deco packaging features the bold metallic hues of the holiday collection.
MAC In Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Oh, Darling is officially described as a ‘metallic gold‘ and it is a light warm-toned champagne gold shade with a metallic finish. It is obviously warm-toned but due to how light it is this particular shade can look very flattering on many different skin tones from light to medium.
The texture of the product is extremely soft and is creamy to touch that reminds me a lot of the Becca pressed highlighters. Such creaminess does not allow the brush to pick up too much product. It is not powdery at all so there is no fall-out and the usage is very moderate – you barely pick up any product but you still get visible results.
I get it why this product is called a liquid-powder highlighter. When you pick up product with your fingers it is so smooth that almost seems like a liquid highlighter. It has amazing color payoff and gives a very sheer coverage with a fan brush. The product is very biuldable and you can achieve the most intense highlight with it if you wish. It is very pigmented, very blendable and easy to use. It also lasts on my skin for about nine to ten hours slightly fading away afterwards.
The texture of the product seemed to be exactly like the Becca highlighters and I decided to compare it to Opal. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal is a bit more rose gold than straight gold and looks a tad darker than the MAC Oh, Darling. Both have a very strong almost metallic finish with the MAC highlighter to be more on a metallic side. Opal also feels creamier and the powder is more finely milled compared to the MAC Oh, Darling. Although, I find these two products quite similar, but these are no dupes. If you missed the MAC In extra Dimension Skinfinish in either Oh, Darling or Shaft Of Gold – you can get the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector instead and it works almost exactly the same in terms of application and the color is quite similar.
