When you use a darker lip color you have to be really precise otherwise you may end up with a smudged or runny lipstick that does not look that appealing at all. The best way to make your dark or bright lipstick stay in place is to use a lip liner. It also works nice for defining your lips even with the nude shades. How often do you actually reach for a lip liner?
I have quite a few different lip pencils from nude, natural and beige shades up to deeper and darker reds and plums. I do not use a lip liner everyday and I do not tend to use it with lip glosses or with sheer lipsticks. I think of a lip liner as something more sophisticated, more complex, something that goes perfectly well with a full-face makeup.
I think that a lip liner of a corresponding or a close color is a must with a dark lipstick. Not only it allows you to make your lipstick remain where you put it, but makes your lipstick wear longer and remain even and not patchy. The same thing happens with a nude-ish and lighter lipsticks. The moment your lipstick wears off there is a lip pencil to stay at that place and make it appear okay.
Lip liner is an amazing tool to define your lips and to change the shape of your lips if you wish, to correct the form of the lips if needed. Lip liner has its own place in my makeup bag even though I do not use it everyday – but I can reach for it whenever I feel like it. Besides, you can always use a lip liner to color your whole lips and use it as a long-wearing lipstick – that works perfectly fine too!
So, what do you think? How often to you use a lip liner? And why? Tell me in the comments down below!
Thank you very much for your attention.
Have an amazing day!
