Monthly Favorites: October 2015

I love October so much – for sunny yet crispy weather, red leaves and Halloween. It is an amazing month full with new makeup releases and Christmas collections. And there have been a lot of new products that I really enjoyed using in October. Today I have a few of them to show you!

Catrice Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette in Frankie Rose To Hollywood Review
Catrice Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette in Frankie Rose To Hollywood

There have been quite a few palettes that I really loved this month, but there was one palette that surprised me the most! Catrice Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette (€4.99 or $5.50) in Frankie Rose To Hollywood is an amazing palette both in terms of a very budget-friendly price and product quality. It is a very versatile palette as it has rose, pink and taupe shades that perform wonderfully with or without an eyeshadow base. It is a gorgeous basic palette that you can use to support any makeup look and in combination with some brighter eyeshadows. (Full review here)

Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation in Light Neutral Review

Another makeup item I’ve been repeatedly using the whole month is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation ($36.00) in Light Neutral. I love it! It is so velvety and silky smooth, so finely milled that it even feels creamy to touch. It has a beautifully designed packaging and a very useful double-sided sponge along with a protective purple pouch. It also comes in a huge variety of shades from the fairest up to the deepest. This powder is truly high-definition because it is absolutely undetectable on the skin yet it has a very good coverage and evens the skin out significantly. The demi-matte finish also makes it even more alluring as a setting powder. I cannot imagine my everyday makeup with this beautiful powder! (Full review here)

Sleek MakeUP Blush in Pixie Pink Review
Sleek MakeUP Blush in Pixie Pink

I really like using blushes as I think that a right shade blush can instantly freshen up your makeup and make your skin appear healthy and glowing. The Sleek MakeUP Blush ($6.99) in Pixie Pink is the most recent purchase of mine but I love how bright pink it is! The shade is quite a rare one as it is quite vivid and bright but looks very refreshing on the skin. It has a wonderful pigmented and easily blendable formula that makes an application an absolute pleasure as you cannot overdo it but can steadily build the color up to the desired intensity.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bettina Review

As matte lips are the major beauty trend today I also tend to use matte lip products more often than not. I prefer my matte lipsticks to be at least non-drying and Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($26.00) in Bettina is great choice in these terms. It is very pigmented and glides on the lip easily delivering enough pigment in one swipe for a semi-opaque coverage. It also comes in a form of a jumbo-pencil to allows you to be very precise with color placement and you can also easily use it as a lip pencil. It is a gorgeous warm-tone beige with pink undertones and finely-milled silver shimmer that allows this lipstick not to look flat on the lips. It lasts for full six hour on my lips and its neutral shade makes it a perfect every-day matte lipstick. (Full review here)

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan Review

I also like the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream ($6.00) in Milan for a brighter matte lip. The shade is a medium-dark cool-toned pink that looks marvelous on my cool-toned skin. It requires some time to set but when it is completely set it looks so matte! It also wears for six hours on my lips and is not drying at all. Very nice formula! (Full review here)

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye Review
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye

Besides all of the above-mentioned makeup products I also have a skincare favorite this time! As you may know I have been a long-time fan of the Clinique All About Eyes Rich Cream (that I still love sincerely!) but when I finally ran out of it for the third or fourth time I decided to give something else a try. I got the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye ($36.00) cream about three weeks ago and have been loving it since then. It differs from the Clinique one in terms of cream texture and effect. Clinique eye cream is a very good hydrating eye cream, whereas Kiehl’s Recovery Eye helps with under-eye puffiness and dark circles a lot. It was also able to make my first eye wrinkles completely disappear. And it smells herbal and lavender that I love!

So, these are the best product I’ve been using this month. What are your favorite makeup and skin care items for the month of October? Share your answers in the comments down below – I would really love to know!

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea

  1. Every time I see Catrice and Sleek being mentioned, I say a silent prayer that the brands will come to North America (namely, Canada!) We finally got Essence, what does it take to get Catrice and Sleek too?! 😛
Great list and I like how you mix budge with higher priced brands.

    1. Thank you! These brands are really great! I have been really happy with almost everything I got from them! 😀 I love mentioning budget-friendly brands as they have some amazing products as well (sometimes even better that their high-end equivalents!) 😀 😀 😀
