My Thoughts On: Nars Illuminators (Hot Sand, Copacabana, Super Orgasm, Adelaide)

Over the past few years I have collected some great illuminators by Nars and today I decided to share my thoughts on this product with you. Especially now, when everyone is talking about strobing and what on earth could be better for strobing than a good illuminator/highlighter?

Nars Illuminator ($30.00) is a light-reflecting liquid that glides on to refresh and enhance the complexion with shimmering incandescence.

Nars promises the ‘light from within‘ with these highlighters, that can be either applied all over the face or used very precisely as a highlighter (on cheek bones, under the brow, on forehead, etc.). It is also stated that you can mix it with your foundation to make it more luminous, you can wear underneath your foundations to make your skin glow from within or you can use it over your makeup as a highlighter, that makes this illuminator a great multi-tasking product out there.

Nars Illuminator Copacabana

Nars Illuminator in Copacabana is the most famous product, besides Nars Blush in orgasm of course, that Nars has ever released. It is a gorgeous highlighter and the one I would personally recommend to anyone who wants to have that glow. The shade is described as ‘glistening pearl‘ on Nars Official website. I would describe it more like a champagne pinky silver highlighter with extremely finely milled shimmer that translates into gorgeous silvery gold sheen on the skin. You need just the tiniest amount of it to show up on the skin.

Although it is more on the cool-toned side it still beautifully compliments any skin tone whether it has pink, yellow or olive undertones. It looks absolutely stunning on the skin and is the best highlighter for strobing out there. Besides being an actual highlighter it also works nice both as makeup base and as a liquid highlighter you mix with your foundation as it does not have glitter particles in its consistency.

Nars Illuminator in Hot Sand is another beautiful but a subtle liquid highlighter by nars. It was limited edition but you can still spot it on the Nars official website. Hot Sand is officially described as ‘peach champagne‘. It is a very light peachy beige highlighter with subtle golden sheen. It is very sheer so you will have to layer it to reach the desired intensity.

It is the least shimmery and gleamy Nars highlighter available. It adds just a bit of glow to the skin that is very appropriate for day time and is an excellent choice for those who want to add some radiance to the skin without looking to glowy and dewy. It also works well with foundations and as a base as it is not too overpowering as a highlighter.

Nars Illuminator in Adelaide is a limited edition illuminator for the Summer 2014 collection. You might actually still find it online or in stores but it is no longer available on the Nars official website. It was initially described as ‘shimmering lavender pink‘ that is partly true. It is a cool-toned medium pink with pink and silver glitter. Even though to comes out quite sheer there is still visible pink tint to it.

It is glittery. Very glittery. Although it has a beautiful pink sheen to it, it still has quite an amount of glitter that is visible on the skin. I actually really like it but more for special occasions when this amount of glitter is appropriate as it actually looks quite cute. You can easily use it as a blush and a highlighter in one.

Nars Illuminator Super Orgasm

Nars Illuminator in Super Orgasm was my first ever purchased Nars illuminator. It is a permanent member of the line and is officially described as ‘peachy pink with gold glitter‘. It is an orange based peachy highlighter with golden sheen and gold glitter. This one is not that intensely pigmented. Being orange based it may stain your fingers or your skin a bit but it easily comes off with a soap or a micellar water. You can easily vary the intensity of the highlight or jut layer it for more pigment.

It is a really warm-toned highlighter that looks better on warm skin tones with yellow and olive undertones. It looks way better on me when I have tan and my cool-toned skin looks yellower. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful peachy highlighter and it is a part of famous Nars ‘Orgasm’ line. It is a gorgeous summer highlighter that I would definitely recommend to check out if you like to have a peachy flush on your cheeks.

I personally really love Nars illuminators. It is a wonderful multi-tasking product and one of the best highlighters on the market. The fact that it’s liquid makes it a perfect illuminating base and I also love mixing it with my foundation to add luminosity to it. These illuminators are very much worth checking out!

I hope this review was interesting and useful for you! Please leave any questions and thoughts in the comments down below.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Dorothea
