Monthly Favorites: July-August

Due to traveling a lot this summer I was limited to a very small amount of makeup and I basically had to use pretty much the same products all the time. As long as I had very few favorites in July I decided to combine July and August monthly favorites in one post as a result. Nevertheless, there some really nice products that I truly loved using on vocation this summer!

Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay Cologne

I can officially say that I am absolutely in love with Jo Malone fragrances! Everything about these fragrances is awesome starting with the scent itself and up to the packaging, sleek and gorgeous. Remember, I shared my wish list with you last week – I still am on the hunt for the Jo Malone Wild Bluebell for the upcoming Autumn! In the meantime I am enjoying the most summery and fresh Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Cologne ($125/100ml), that I will soon post a full review on. It smells like freshly picked blackberries with a hint of woods and bay leaves! Awesome!

Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

Long-wearing makeup is my everything in summer. Even having dry skin I still have to use an eyeshadow base to make eyeshadows stay longer on my lids, preferably for the whole day. And there is no better option than Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base ($25.00) for that purpose. Nars base is 100% smudge proof and makes any eyeshadows stay on forever! I have already done a full review where I go into details on this magic primer.

The Body Shop All-In-One Cheek Color in Truffle

Summer makes me choose very unusual (for me) shades of blushes, I must say. You know, I’ve been loving The Body Shopp All-In-One Cheek Color Blushes ($16.00) as these have the most bendable texture and wonderful payoff! But I was rarely reaching for a beautiful matte brown blush in Truffle as it seemed to be a bit dark for my then NW20 skin. Being tan made it possible for me to go darker and this blush looks so natural on tan skin!

Smashbox L.A. Lights Blendable Lip and Cheek Color in Hollywood and Highlight

What a summer without the a highlighter! I have chosen the Smashbox L.A. Lights Blendable Lip and Cheek Color ($29.00) in Hollywood & Highlight as my highlighter on the go and as a perfect multi-purpose product that is absolutely irreplaceable in a travel makeup-bag. It has the most beautiful sheen and blends like a dream leaving the most natural yet distinctive highlight on the skin. I love to use it on my cheek bones, brow bone, nose and chin and as a highlight in the center of the lips as well.

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Colour in No. 02 (Limited Edition)

The Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Colour No. 02 ($65.00) was a limited edition for summer 2014 and was lying in my stash untouched for ages! I never actually used it as it seemed to be too dark for my light skin. Using each stripe separately seemed to time-consuming and inconvenient. But as soon as I got tan I could not figure out the right shade of powder for a significantly darker skin tone I have now. And browsing through my stash I rediscovered this gorgeous powder! It is perfect match for skin now as tan is slowly fading away. The Chanel Healthy Glow powder makes my skin look especially beautiful as if it is lit from within – such a perfect summer glow.

Catrice Sun Glow Shimmering Bronzing Powder in Shimmering Bronze

I have recently bought some makeup from Catrice and was pleasantly surprised with an amazing quality all of the powder products have! I already have a favorite Catrice blush and the Catrice Sun Glow Shimmering Brozing Powder ($5.50) in Shimmering Bronze was one of the most-used bronzer for me this summer! Even though it is shimmery – it looks very glowy on the skin making it appear healthy and fresh! You can also the check the full review on it if you are interested.

Nars Sheer Lipstick in Damage

Nars Sheer Lisptick ($27.00) in Damage – is the only lipstick that travels with me always! I cannot imagine my bag without it as it is a perfect ‘your-lips-but-better’ color! It has a gorgeous plummy-pink shade with semi-sheer coverage. It compliments my skin so beautifully and goes well with absolutely everything! I have already posted a full review on it.

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Mega Gloss in Fight For It

And finally, you already know how much I like the new L’Oreal Infallible Mega Glosses. These lip glosses come in a huge variety of shades and finishes and my personal favorite of this summer has been the L’Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss ($11.00) in Fight For It (cream). It smoothes and softens my lips incredibly and makes them appear more plump and glossy.

These are the majority of products I really enjoyed using in the course of two months. They proved to be perfect travel items and never failed me. I am already looking forward to new Autumn and Winter collections that will bring new favorites, I hope!

What were you favorites in July and in August? I would love to know! Please, share your answers in the comments down below!

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea

  1. NARS Smudgeproof Eye Base is amazing, the only one i use and have repurchased 3 times over the past couple of years. I love my Les Beiges powders. I have number 25 and 01, which was the lighter striped one with the peachy blush shade. Great favourites x
