As soon as I saw that the Vitamin C – one of my favorite product lines from The Body Shop – got extended and there are two new amazing products to try I grabbed them both immediately! Out of curiosity and based on my previous positive experience I expected quite a lot from both of the products!
The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser (£16.00 or $30.00) has a very fresh, lightweight formula that fights signs of fatigue revealing your natural healthy-looking glow.
The products comes in a heavy yet plastic orange translucent jar with matte black lid. It closes very safely and won’t open in a bag or case. It is intended to be used on dull, tired and grumpy skin and has a very nice light watery-creamy texture. With this moisturizer you get 50 ml or 1.7 oz of the product that is a standard amount for face creams. Once opened you can smell quite strong citrusy scent that doesn’t linger to your skin though and is not overwhelming after use. It spreads very easily on the skin and absorbs completely in about a minute or two making it a perfect pre-makeup skin hydration solution. The cream has a very light peachy color that is absolutely invisible on the skin.
It definitely adds moisture to the skin but not a remedy for very dehydrated, dry, flaky skin as it needs something way more moisturizing. I do not advise you to use it before bed as it won’t do much. To my opinion, it is an amazing moisturizer that you can use before applying foundation. It absorbs very quickly and is not sticky, it won’t contradict any foundation and prepares your skin to be a perfect base for any makeup you put afterwards. As for the glow – any moisturized skin looks healthy and glowy and this products helps with it. If you were looking for a fast absorbing non-sticky face moisturizer that you want to apply before makeup – this is the one to check out.
The Body Shop Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer (£14.00 or $24.00) is skincare and makeup in one – an instant fix for healthy-looking glow. It revitalizes skin with a fresh rosy tint, whilst leaving it feeling softer and silkier.
The Glow Enhancer comes in a form of a tube with the amount of 25 ml or 0.84 fl oz. of product. The tube is also orange with a matte black cap. The products inside is an orange-colored cream based on water, silicone an glycerin making it a silicon-based face primer.
Even though it is stated to be a smart product an work both as a skincare and as a makeup – I cannot say it is any of these. It is a makeup primer with some skincare benefits. As primer it is a very descent product because it has silicones in it that smooth the skin surface preparing it for further makeup. The orange tint is not visible on the skin but it changes the undertone of the skin making it more healthy-looking as orange contradicts any dullness on the skin and blue color as well. Due to glycerin and water in its consistency this primer also makes skin softer that is always a good thing if you’re going to apply a foundation afterwards. It will not alter the color of your makeup and work primarily as a color-correct base. If you were looking for a color-correcting base the fights fatigue and dullness of the skin you might consider this one.
