What can be better than a bright yellow polish for a very sunny and hot day in summer? But it is a really hard task to find a right yellow polish out there. One of the best bright yellows that I’ve ever seen is the Chanel Mimosa nail polish.
Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27.00) features classic and trend-defining shades in an exclusive formula that strengthens and moisturizes nails as it delivers high-shine colour. Applies without streaking.
When Chanel makeup creative director Peter Philips creates new nail polishes he always tries to add something unique and barely there to these nail polishes that makes them absolutely outstanding, dimensional and very eye-catching. That exactly is the right way to characterize Mimosa, that was a part of the Chanel Summer 2011 Collection dedicated to and inspired by the gorgeous summery flowers.
The shade is very bright yellow with tiny silver and orange shimmer that makes it a bit golden and glimmers through. The shimmer is very visible in the bottle and it makes your nails look dimensional and not flat as it may happen with bright cream shades. Even being bright yellow this shade is very neutral and looks gorgeous on different skin types with both cool and warm undertones.
The texture of Mimosa is a true cream that requires three thin coats for full opacity. It dries down quite quickly and evens out easily. It works well with the top and base coat I use.
The wear time of this nail polish is above average for Chanel nail polishes. It stayed on perfectly well for five days and on the sixth day it started chipping slightly. The color is somewhat forgiving in terms of chipping as it is not that visible on the nails.
It is one of the best Chanel nail polishes in terms of color. I think it is very unique due to orange and silver shimmer with glimmering effect that you can see on your nails in direct sunlight. When in the shadow this shimmer makes the nail polish look dimensional and vivid. Such a bright color is perfect for summer and it looks especially gorgeous and sophisticated as pedicure. It is exclusively summer shade for me and I do tend to wear it a lot in summer as the sunlight reveals all of its beauty.
And by the way, the collection was dedicated to flowers as I mentioned above and Mimoasa nail polish is a very beautiful and correct reflection of yellow mimosas of deep and vibrant color with slight orange undertones.
