I have a wonderful product to tell you about today. If you’ve read my most recent Sunday makeup news you know that Clarins also has its own Summer collection called Aquatic Treasures. Every summer Clarins introduces a huge gorgeous bronzer in the framework of the summer collection and I have never ever got one before. It was extremely exciting for me to see how this will work out and I have a full review for you today.
Clarins Aquatic Treasures Summer Bronzing Compact (£30.00 or €44.50) has been given a magical décor with marine-inspired motif imprints. Perfect for both beautifying a tan or creating a golden sun-kissed glow.
It is a huge bronzer that is nearly 10 cm or 4 inches in diameter and it has 20g or 0.7 oz of product inside. The packaging is plastic but very beautifully designed – pearls and shell pattern peek trough the very reflective bronzy-orange plastic transparent cover. It opens easily enough so you won’t hurt you fingers and nails, but it won’t open on it’s own in your makeup bag. Once opened you can see a huge mirror inside that is extremely convenient to use on the go. The imprint on the powder copies the one the cover with minor changes.
The bronzing powder inside is divided into four sectors of different color from very light peach-apricot shade up to deep tan. You can use either two upper shades for very light tanning effect and for fair skin tones or you can use the lower two shades for more of a deeper effect. If you swirl you brush around in the compact you well get the perfect shade for a sun-kissed glow the Clarins is promising. As I am quite fair right now I prefer using the two upper shades but I think I will also get a lot of use of there shades as well later this summer.
The powder is very finely milled and as a result very bendable. You can achieve any effect you want – from very sheer application and barely sun-touched skin up to very deep and dramatic tan. I think this bronzer is a very good fit for those with very fair skin as it allows you to choose with shades and sectors you want to use. And once you develop some tan you can use more shades or concentrate on deeper ones.
On my dry skin it stays perfectly on for the whole day till I take my makeup off. You can also use a setting spray with it for a more natural effect as it is powder and the setting spray makes it less obvious on the skin. I like the natural tan effect it gives to my skin and I absolutely adore the huge packaging and the mirror. Also this bronzer has a very mild sunscreen scent that doesn’t linger on the skin.
The brand says that this bronzing powder is also a skin care product as it protects the skin against the harmful effects of the environment and provides some hydration so the skin stays moisturized throughout the day. As I apply it to those areas of my face that get naturally hit by the sun and I do not use it as all over powder I cannot really say whether it has any skincare abilities. But the skin looks healthy and glowy and the finish of the product is quite luminous.
This bronzing powder is worth checking out especially if you have very or light skin tone. It is a very descent product and the huge packaging and mirror inside makes it irreplaceable on the go as you can use it as travel mirror.
