Monthly Favorites: May

My most favorite month of the year – spring and sunny May – is finally over. And as we step into the bright and hot June it is the right time for monthly favorites that are perfect for summer as well! I have to say that I was pretty happy with some new products that were released in spring but at the same time I have rediscovered several gorgeous products that I owned for quite sometime already and that are definitely worth being included in the favorites.

As the weather is getting hotter and sunnier each day I tend to avoid any cakey-ness on my face and I chose lighter textures for my everyday makeup, preferably with the good amount of SPF for more skin protection.

Clinique Acne Solutions BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 40

And one of the products that I really, really love and plan to be using this summer constantly is the Clinique Acne Solutions BB cream ($37.00) that I have already done a full review on. It is a very light-weight liquid foundation though it is called a BB cream with very high SPF – 40. The range has three types of shades but as it is very sheer one shade is suitable for several skin tones. It is very hygienic as it comes in a squeeze tube and therefore is very comfortable to use. You need the tiniest amount of product for the whole face (several drops in my case) and you can get a sheer to light coverage with it. The best part of this product is that it doesn’t break me out and feels like absolutely nothing on the skin. Totally recommend it!

Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder

I got the Bourjois Healthy Balance powder (£8.99) during my March makeup haul and have been using it quite often since. It is a very nice light-weight powder and I especially liked it for the hotter days when even my dry skin can be a little oily on the forehead and on nose and cheeks area. It is a matte powder and it does really has mattifying abilities as it leaves your skin with a satin finish for about eight to ten hours that looks natural and is not completely matte.

Urban Decay Lush Lash Mascara
Urban Decay Lush Lash Mascara

Honestly, I absolutely adore Urban Decay mascaras and I was not disappointed with the Urban Decay Lush Lash (€22.99) mascara for a bit. As usual, the consistency of this mascara is absolutely perfect – creamy enough to completely coat each of your lashes and leave absolutely no clumps. But the best thing of this mascara is the wand – it is a plastic wand with tons of short bristles located very close to one another. This wand design allows to coat every single lash and separates perfectly – as a result you get gorgeous well-separated and 100% natural looking lashes that are extremely long, fluffy and ultra black. Your lashes won’t be as voluminous as with the Urban Decay mascara duo I have talked so much about – the effect is very natural but unbelievably beautiful.

Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30

As I am all about light-weight foundations and translucent powders there is no surprise that I have chosen the Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum 30 ($43.00) as one of my monthly favorites. Whenever I don’t feel like applying a foundation on my face but I still want my skin to look flawless and healthy I reach for this amazing tinted moisturizer. It has a very creamy texture and comes in a huge variety of shades (mine is Alaska that seems ideal for NW20 skin). You can easily apply this product with your fingers and it sets completely in a couple of minutes. Even though it is a tinted moisturizer it still has a very nice light coverage that you can build up to medium so it functions as a foundation as well. I rally like this product for no makeup days as it is absolutely undetectable on the skin.

The Body Shop All-In-One Cheek Colour in Marshmallow

I also love The Body Shop All-In-One Cheek Color (£8.00 or $16.00) and these have been my go-to blushes for the whole month (I even wrote a whole post about them)! This product comes in ten beautiful and wearable shades and I especially loved the Marshmallow, cool-toned matte peachy-pink color that looks very flattering on my pale skin. The texture of these blushes is extremely finely milled and the application is exceptional!

Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Sweet Pop

As for the lips I really like the Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer ($18.00) in Sweet Pop as it is such a gorgeous bright neutral pink shade. I have already done a review on this lipstick and on the range of the Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer and I have to say it once again – these lipsticks are amazing! They have no scent at all and the texture is very creamy and comfortable to wear. The formula is very moisturizing and the lips feel very nourished and smooth when you wear any of these lipsticks. The line has 16 gorgeous shades and I totally recommend checking these out!

Essie Nail Polish in Suite Retreat

From the first minute that I discovered Essie 2015 Summer Resort Collection nail polishes I couldn’t resist getting this gorgeous blue orchid purple shade called Suit Retreat. It is one of my most favorite nail polish choices for this summer and it also has perfect application and wear time characteristics as all Essie nail polishes do. The color is very unique as it changes its undertones depending on the lighting and is very appropriate shade to wear on the beach or sea shore.

Clinique Aromatics In White

And finally I just have to talk about the marvelous Clinique Aromatics in White fragrance (£55.00 or $85.00 for 50 ml) that is one of my most recent May purchases. You can read more about it in my full review but I can’t help using it every single day! It is a very complex fragrance with a very interesting scent pyramid. It is a wonderful combination of sweet roses and sparkling spices. This fragrance was definitely a discovery of mine and I see myself using it this summer very often.

These are the May favorites of mine and I hope this post was both interesting and useful for you! Please tell me everything about your favorite and most loved products of May in the comments down below!

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea
