The new addition to the BB & CC creams line of Clinique was the Clinique Acne Solutions BB Cream. Clinique is known for very good skin care products, that really work. So my initial expectations were already pretty high given the buzz that it had created in the makeup world. And I wonder whether it really is worth the hype?
Clinique Acne Solutions BB Broad Spectrum SPF 40 ($37.00) is a multitasking SPF cream for oily and acne-prone skins that feels weightless, conceals imperfections and does not cause breakouts.
Clinique positions this BB cream for combination to oily and oily skin types. But being curious I neglected this recommendation and got it nowithstanding the fact that I have dry skin. My usual makeup routine includes moisturizer application prior foundation and in this case I do not skin this step. If I apply moisturizer 10-15 minutes before this BB cream – it works magic and this cream does not dry out my skin. Moreover, it looks luminous and stays perfect for the whole day.
This BB cream does come in a wide range of colors. You have a choice out of light, light medium, medium, medium deep and deep shades. The one I got seemed the only possible option for my light and pale NW20 skin with pink undertones – the Light shade. And as the texture is quite sheer and bendable it is a perfect match.
The product comes in a squeeze tube and the cream itself is extremely liquidy so you don’t even have to squeeze the tube to get it out. Just turn it upside down and wait for a drop to fall. For my face I need about four or five drops for the light to medium coverage. But before you place a product on you skin you have to shake the bottle vigorously so the liquid mixes with the oils and creates the cream. The foundation itself is quite biuldable and you can achieve the medium coverage if you apply another layer of this BB cream to your face.
This product has the SPF 40 and it’s a huge plus for it that makes this BB cream a perfect choice for summer. It stays put on my skin for the whole day and I do not have to worry about it at all. Maybe the wear time will be less for those with combination and oily skin types, I can’t honestly say. As I use a moisturizer before the BB cream I have the luminous finish with it that looks fresh and healthy. You don’t have to set it with powder but occasionally I do use a translucent powder with it and I think it is a good idea for very hot days or if you have oily skin.
I love the formula of this BB cream – it is super-leifghweight and it feels like nothing on the skin. It doesn’t break me out as this cream is a part of Acne Solutions line. This product is non comedogenic and is allergy tested as all Clinique products. It barely has any scent and is recommended to be used alone or over a moisturizer, as I do. I do advise you to use a stippling brush with it because fingers may lead to a streaky application and a sponge soaks up to much product even when wet.
I have to say that the Clinique Acne Solutions BB cream (or Anti-blemish Solutions on the European markets) is very much worth the hype. It gets a huge thumbs up from me and I will keep using it this summer. The formula and application are amazing that makes it one of the best liquid foundations on the market, especially as it doesn’t cause break outs and is not allergenic.
