There aren’t that many products that I cannot imagine my daily makeup without. But some products really are irreplaceable for me and I do you use them the majority of time I do my makeup. I have already talked about my absolute favorite eyeshadow primer – Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. And today I want to tell you about another amazing makeup item that I love and will keep repurchasing – gorgeous mascara duo from Urban Decay.
The mascara duo I sincerely adore consists of two lash products from Urban Decay. When the brand first launched the new Perversion Mascara it came in a limited edition packaging with a deluxe sample mascara primer. I was impressed with both products so much that I immediately decided that I need the full-size version a primer to go with my mascara.
The Urban Decay Perversion Mascara ($22.00) is an ultracreamy, lengthening, and volumizing mascara for stand out lashes.
This is the best mascara on the market up to date. I have already tested and tried tons of mascara from both high-end and drugstore brands. The Urban Decay Perversion mascara is truly unbeatable in terms of volume, wear time, drying time and life-span. Urban Decay mascaras literally last for ages and you should actually keep an opened mascara for no longer than 3-4 months. Using the Perversion mascara daily I wasn’t able to use it up completely in 4 months – it was still fresh and perfect.
The actual product is very creamy and glides on your lashes perfectly. It does matter of you use a primer or not. Without a primer your will get nice results – you lashes will look long and feathery. But the primer makes a huge difference and that is the way I prefer to use this mascara. Primer makes your lashes extra smooth and thick and mascara applied over looks brilliant. The color of this mascara is deep black (as the whole Perversion line!) and it stays put for the whole day with no flaking or running.
And I also like the brush of the Perversion mascara a lot. It gets just the right amount of product that is enough to put a full coat of mascara on your upper and lower lashes at once. The chaotic location of bristles allows to perfectly separate lashes and to coat each lash at the same time. The design of the brush also makes it possible to avoid your lashes being clumpy and stuck together.
Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer ($20.00) is a whipped, creamy lash primer that conditions and preps for the perfect mascara application.
I was never that into lash primer before Subversion. I always thought that it wouldn’t be able to make much of a difference to my lashes. But the Urban Decay Subversion primer proved me wrong. It does make a huge difference – you don’t need any false lashes any more.
The product inside the tube has a white color but dries completely translucent. It is has white color for you to see where you applied the product and also helps to control the amount of primer you put to your lashes. This primer works exactly as a mascara – the more coats you put – the more voluminous you lashes will look.
the Subversion Lash Primer has quite a similar brush to the Perversion Mascara. It is quite a big brush with tons of bristles that allows you to evenly coat all your lashes with the product. Once you put the primer on it begins to steadily dry and you have to follow with a mascara. It doesn’t have to be the Urban Decay mascara – this primer works nicely with any other mascara giving more volume to your lashes. And even if you were not able to completely cover the white primer with a black mascara there is no need to worry – it will be completely transparent in a couple of minutes, that it is a huge plus. As I already said this primer makes you lashes way thicker and smoother and any mascara applied over goes on so easily. It also prolongs the wear-time of a mascara.
The difference between the full-sized primer and the deluxe sample is 4 ml or 0.13 fl oz. The full size primer contains 8.5 ml or 0.28 fl oz against the 4 ml or 0.15 fl oz in the travel size tube. The travel size tube lasted me for about two and a half months.
I have also prepared several swatches for you so that you can see how this mascara duo changes the lashes. There is no mascara on the eye right to your side. On the left eye (to your side) there is one coat of primer and one coat of mascara.
Then I apply one coat of Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer and it goes on white and you can see that the applications is nice and even and the ends of the upper lashes become long and visible.
And after one coat of Perversion mascara the lashes look exactly the same on both eyes.
Two coats of mascara make basically no difference as the lashes are already long, thick and curled.
Normally I prefer to stick to one layer of primer and one layer of mascara thus my lashes look volumized and lengthened being natural and not overloaded at the same time.
This is my perfect mascara duo and my ultimate makeup staple. There is no special occasion without this mascara and I always reach for it when I want to look especially beautiful. I can honestly recommend you either of this lash products but the best results you can get using Perversion Mascara and Subversion primer together. For bigger, blacker and badder lashes!
I hope this post was both interesting and useful for you. If you have any questions about these products – please leave them in the comments down below!
Thank you very much for your attention.
Have an amazing day!
