Question of the Day: What type of foundation do you prefer?

Nowadays there is a ton of wonderful foundations on the market. Everyone can easily find the product that will be ideal for the specific purposes. Foundations are presented in many types of coverage from very sheer application to full opacity; they may be an ideal solution for pores or could be moisturizing for dry skin types. Foundations could be liquid, cream, powder, gel or even sprays and you can now get BB and CC creams, tinted moisturizers. Your foundations may have different finishes from luminous and dewy to satin and matte.

To make a long story short, you can get any foundation you like and I really wonder what type of foundation do you go for?

As for me I really like quite lightweight textures and serum-like formulas. I tend to get more dewy foundations in order to have a luminous finish as I have quite dry skin and I normally prefer sheer to light-medium coverage as I do not have much to cover and I love to see my skin through the foundation as it looks more natural on me.

An ideal foundation for me would be a light coverage foundation of a very liquid, runny formula, that applies easily and does not emphasize any dry patches on my skin. It should be quite luminous and not drying. The pores on my face are not visible so I’m not looking for priming features in a foundation and I do not like too long-wearing foundations as I would normally wear any makeup for no longer than eight hours.

I cannot say that I have already found my holy grail foundation but I have several foundation that I really like. For my everyday makeup I usually reach for either Nars Tinted Moisturizer or Bourjois 123Perfect CC cream for a very sheer and lightweight application. Whenever I need more coverage and more perfected skin for a full face makeup look I will use my Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Liquid makeup or Revlon Nearly Naked foundation. Although I have dry skin I always set my makeup with the powder and I do wear powder over moisturizing cream when I do not have any specific foundation on.

I would love to know what do you look for in a good foundation? What is your ideal product? Or maybe you have already found a holy grail foundation? Please leave your answers and share your thoughts in the comments down below!

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea

  1. I have combination-oily skin and like to have a choice of finishes/ textures. My current favourites are MAC Studio Sculpt, Estee Lauder Double Wear and Jane Iredale Amazing Base Mineral Powder Foundation. Jay x

  2. I have combination skin and what I look for in a foundation is one that doesn’t fade or transfer as I hate reapplying make through the day. My all time favourite foundation is Estee Lauder Double wear foundation and I also like the Natural Collection Colour foundation. x

    1. Estee Lauder Double Wear is a perfect choice for combination and oily skin types. I also prefer my makeup to stay in place and I do not like to reapply it as it is pretty inconvenient. Thanks for sharing 😉
