I think that eyeliner is my most favorite way to improve my makeup look and emphasize my natural features. And two out of three times I reach for a black liner as the black color is the most powerful way to achieve beautiful effect on the eyes. A week ago we were discussing black eyeliners that come in gel and cream forms – as a part of ‘The Blackest Eyeliner’ series, that also include the review of black eye pencils. And today we are talking bout the felt tip liners as the most convenient way to draw a gorgeous cat eye or the most precise liner on your eyes.
Felt tip eyeliners seem to be gaining more popularity as the majority of brands release eyeliners of that kind in a huge variety of colors – both high end and drugstore companies. Nevertheless, the most popular color remains black.
One of my most disappointing purchases lately has been the Chanel Écriture De Chanel Eyeliner Pen Effortless Definition ($35.00) in color 10 Noir (Black). This product comes in a form of a pen with quite thick flexible feel tip applicator. Color is rich black but the formula is quite runny that results in its imprinting on the lid as it takes it several minutes to dry completely. The applicator is not that convenient as advertised as it is thick and all you can draw with it is a thick line and no matter how hard you try you won’t be able to get a precise line with it. And it also dries out very quickly.
The other line I own is Urban Decay Ink For Eyes Waterproof Precision Eye Pen ($20.00) in black. This liner is a part of the Perversion family – the ultra black products of the brand. It is supposed to be blacker than black and the shade is truly that deep and rich black as your favorite Perversion pencil. But the most amazing feature of this eyeliner is how long-wearing and extremely waterproof this is. This liner wears the whole day with zero running or smudging, the formula is great and it dries quickly enough to have no imprints on the lid. The applicator is thin but it allows you to draw a precise and thick lines equally easy. It is the most waterproof liner I have ever tried and whenever I need my liner to last thought the day no matter what I do (like raining, crying, swimming or off-road driving) I definitely draw my liner with it.
And finally there is my most favorite liner out of the bunch – Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner ($7.99) in Black. This is a perfect eyeliner both in terms of quality and price. I like the fact that this liner is suitable for people who wear contact lens. This liner has a very flexible thin felt tip applicator and is the most comfortable one to use. You can easily draw a very precise line with it or you can use the flat side of it (put it in a different angle) and draw a very dramatic liner. It is very long-wearing but is not as waterproof as the Urban Decay one (and no one always needs an extremely waterproof liner). Overall, I believe that I use the liner more often than my other liners because it is so easy to make a good and quick liner with and it wears nicely throughout the day. It has been a part of my February Favorites and I have already talked about it a number of my posts. Totally recommend this one if you are looking for an affordable and a very good felt tip liner. And, by the way, it does take this liner quite some time to dry out – mine is still alright after two months of frequent use!
