It is not a secret that the drugstore beauty market has a lot to offer. Affordable prices in combination with very high quality and nice packaging makes this products highly competitive and alluring. We have already talked about five amazing products in 5$ range in the Top 5 under $5 Makeup Products post and I decided to continue the series with the $10 limit. Let’s see what we got here.
I really love drugstore beauty market for an opportunity to try lots of different products and not to break the bank. Affordable brands have interesting products and unusual solution more often than their high-end competitors. And drugstore makeup products perform better than the same luxury makeup items nearly half the time.
The first makeup product I would like to mention is the Maybelline Fit me! Dewy + Smooth Foundation ($7.99), that I own in shade ‘Ivory’.
I got this gorgeous foundation in my recent makeup haul and I was religiously using it ever since. It is a beautiful foundation in any sense: it applies nicely both with a brush and a beauty blender, absolutely non-streaky and non-patchy, even though I have quite a dry skin. It performs perfectly throughout the day and lasts till I take my makeup off. It is also worth mentioning that Maybelline have tons of colors with different undertones in this foundation range, suitable for the majority skin tones.
I am pretty sure that there’s no person left who yet haven’t raved about the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment ($9.99), that I got in shade Brightener.
You can read my first impressions on this product in the Makeup Haul post and I also included this amazing concealer in my March Favorites, this says a lot! The concealer is very light-weight but has a good coverage nevertheless. The shade Brightener is strongly rose-toned, so this particular shade may not be suitable for everyone, but I find it to be perfect for my skin tone with pink undertones. It glides on easily and blends with the foundation very well.
As for the blush I would definitely go for Revlon Powder Blush ($7.99) and the one presented on the photo is in color Racy Rose – beautiful peachy-pink color with golden sheen to it.
That is an unbeatable powder blush for the price! It performs nicely on the skin, applies easily and allows you to steadily build the color up. What I love about this blush is the longevity of wear time – it stays put on my skin no matter what. And the color range is quite nice too with pink, beige and plum colored blushes.
One of my most recent obsessions is the Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder. Mine is in the shade Fair that matches my NW20 skin tone perfectly.
I love to use this powder to set my foundation, because the texture of the product is so light-weight that it becomes absolutely undetectable on the skin. The shade range is limited but as it is a sheer product you can easily get away with a shade lighter or darker. I have been using it daily since I got this powder and it is truly gorgeous – the result is porcelain-like skin that is so smooth and silky to touch. Definitely recommend this one. You can also check out the spring makeup step-by-step tutorial that I did using this powder.
Since Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow ($6.99) line was launched – the buzz about these gorgeous cream eyeshadows has never stopped. And the most raved about shade is definitely ‘Bad to the Bronze’.
These eyeshadows are extremely affordable and the quality is really high. Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadows are very easy to apply using either fingers or a brush and are very long-lasting as they do not crease or budge at all. You can use these eyeshadows on their own or as an eyeshadow base. You can read more about these eyeshadows in a respective post.
As for powder eyeshadows I can suggest considering the L’Oreal Colour Riche Dual Effects ($9.99) and the palette I like is the Unforgettable Lilac – a perfect mix of lilac, silvery-grey and violet colors.
This is a very nice eyeshadow palette for everyday makeup as you have everything you need in it. There’s a nice crease color, a beautiful lid shadow, a gorgeous deep shade for the outer edge and a nice brow-bone highlighter. What is more to wish? The quality is alright if you use this eyeshadows dry, it is better if you use them wet and is absolutely gorgeous if you apply these eyeshadows on a base as I normally do.
I can’t stop talking about my most favorite eyeliner – the Maybelline eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner ($7.99) in Black.
This stuff is simply awesome and it was one of my February Favorites! I like thin and precise flexible felt-tip applicator, deep black matte color and extreme longevity of wear. It is the best drugstore eyeliner in all terms and it is a very strong competitor to all the high-end felt tip liners. It also dries extremely quickly and is suitable for those of us who wears contacts.
If you want to get a great mascara in the drugstore department I recommend checking out the Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Jumbo Lash Mascara ($9.95).
This mascara allows you to get well-separated voluminous lashes in a single swipe – that is how good this mascara is. I got it during my recent makeup haul and I have noticed that I reach for it quite often. It easily outperforms my other favorite drugstore mascaras in terms of volume and separation.
And finally we can talk about the lip products. I have really been enjoying the L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive lipstick ($8.99) in Freida’s Nude.
To my mind this color absolutely gorgeous – it is a sheer mauvy purple shade with sparkles in the texture, that leans more cool tone on my lips. The quality is amazing to a sheer lipstick – very creamy and quite shiny. I don’t mind the flavor of these lipsticks, but it can be quite strong to somebody. But you won’t feel it after you applied the lipstick. It stays on for two to three hours and is not drying.
I am also a huge fan of lip glosses and the one I like a lot is the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss ($7.99) in Super Natural.
It is a beautiful nude color, you know I love nude lip products a lot, and it is quite shiny and glossy. These lip glosses are absolutely non-sticky and stay on your lips for quite some time. The color range is extensive, but the sheer formula makes the lip glosses look a little bit alike differing in the undertone and the amount of glitter if there is any. But the quality is absolutely amazing and if you like natural lips this is a perfect product for you.
This is it for ten amazing, gorgeous makeup items with extremely high quality and a very affordable price. If you like these series don’t forget to take a look at Top 5 under $5 makeup products and stay tuned for future posts on this topic.
