Hello, gorgeous!

A trip to Sephora to get just one makeup item never ends with one product. And a walk to the drugstore to check just a single one new foundation never goes to plan. As a result by the end of the day you find yourself surrounded with exciting new makeup purchases. That is true if you really like makeup like I do! So, today I would like to tell you what I have purchased in March and how happy I am with everything I got.

I guess I have been hesitating to buy Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit ($40.00) in Light-to-Medium for ages now. I’ve heard tons and tons of people talking about this palette, how gorgeous, how versatile and how useful this is. And I have always been afraid that color theme won’t suite my pale NW20 cool toned skin. And I believe that my fear were justified to some extent. When you look at swatches you might think that these colors are too dark and they really are when unblended.

But once you use a right brush and the smallest amount of power – it’s a magic in a pan. I loved at very least four out of six colors and I hope I will find the way to work it out with the rest. I am a big fan of Vanilla as a beautiful setting powder for the under-eye concealer, I love sand as a subtle highlight. I find Java to be a perfect contour color for me as I have very strong cool tones to my skin tone and Fawn (cool on the photo!) looks surprisingly muddy. I adore Havana as a light bronzer for my wintery pale skin. What I don’t like – and it’s so controversy to what everyone else says – is the Banana powder, that I think is a bit too yellow and too ashy even if applied with a light hand. But, still I think it a very nice palette to check out if you need a contour palette on the go or you want to try a lot of different contour products at once.

But originally I was planning to get the Too Faced The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette ($49.00) that is the most famous product by Too Faced. And I got it because I have already tried the Too Faced Boudoir palette (a small one with 9 neutral shades in it) and I was extremely happy with it! I have to admit that eyeshadows in both pallets are silky soft and very bendable and they do correspond very well.

And I already have some of the favorites there: Salted caramel (light peachy terra cotta shade) – amazing crease shadow, no surprise here; Creme Brulee (darkened gold shimmer) – beautiful overall shadow for brighter looks; Cherry Cordial (deep burgundy brown with sparkles) – a very rare burgundy color and perfect for smoky eyes; Amaretto (deep terra cotta brown metallic) – gorgeous color with an amazing pay-off that goes well with Creme Brûlée; and Champagne Truffle ( golden-rose white with metallic sheen) – a very finely milled rosy white color that acts a beautiful highlighter. I plan to do a full-review on this palette so stay tuned for proper swatches.

And I also decided to get the Too Faced Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection ($36.00) in the renewed packaging as it is one of the best neutral eye palettes out there. This palette is perfect for creating natural looks as it has two highlighters (one matte and one shimmery), a couple of very flattering crease shades, couple of bright colors to amp up the look a bit, two basic browns (one matte and one shimmery) and a gorgeous deep smoky brown shade. All these eyeshadows allow you to create all kinds of looks starting from office appropriate eye makeup look up to a gorgeous party makeup.

I went to the Drugstore to take a look at the renewed line of Madeline foundations, but ended up picking up the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment ($9.99) in Brightener. And I was honestly surprised how really good this concealer is in terms of brightening up the under-eye area and no-creasing. It even made it to my March Favorites, where you can read more about it.

It also has a very strong rose undertone to it that suits my skin tone so well and it blends out perfectly. I really think these concealers deserve all the attention they get due too very high quality and very light texture of the product.

And I believe that there was a huge buzz on youtube and among bloggers about the newly released matte lipsticks from Maybelline. So I decided to try out a couple of them – Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes ($7.49) in Daringly Nude and Lust for Blush.

I like the matte packaging of these lipsticks a lot as I think it suits them perfectly – you can easily find these matte lipsticks on your vanity. The colors overall seemed deep for me and you definitely get the full-coverage as the texture is truly matte. But I have to say that these lipsticks are the most comfortable matte lipsticks I have ever tried. If you like creamy matte textures – you have to check these out! But if you have pale skin – any of those colors will look quite dark on your lips. Lust for Blush is my personal favorite out of the two.

Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy+Smooth Foundation ($7.99) in Ivory, Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Jumbo Lash Mascara ($9.95) in Ultra Black, EOS Visibly Soft Lip Balm ($3.29) in Coconut Milk

And finally I also got what I was originally going to purchase at the drugstore – Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy+Smooth Foundation ($7.99) in Ivory. It seems to be the Fit me! Foundation in a new packaging as on Maybelline website there is no originalle packaging presented. But anyway, I never had it before and I have to say that the color range is extensive and you can find a matching color for sure, that will be perfect for your undertone as well. So, 115 Ivory seems to be the perfect match to my NW20 skin tone. I have to test it out a bit more, but my first impression is very positive – I think it is quite dewy and hydrating and looks very natural on the skin. If you want to see a full-review on this foundation – please tell me.

I’ve also talked a lot how much I like the Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Jumbo Lash Mascara ($9.95) in Ultra Black in my March Favorites as i believe it is a very nice mascara for daily use if you like voluminous lashes. And I also got EOS Visibly Soft Lip Balm ($3.29) in Coconut Milk, because I love to use this lip balms underneath lipsticks and you can read my thoughts on this balms here.

If you are interested in any of these products I will be happy to make a full review on them – please leave your thoughts in the comments down below!

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

Dorothea

  1. I love everything you bought.. Im super drooling on the Maybelline concealer.. Maybe that will help cover my pimple scars.. Unfortunately I made a promise not to buy any Make Up for the whole month of April… Huhuuhuhu😞😳

    1. The shade I own – the Brightener (160) is good at highlighting and brightening, the coverage is mostly light-to-medium, so I don’t think it is the best product for blemishes. A no-buy for the whole month! Such a difficult promise! But this is good to get rid of the impulsive purchases and to make a list of products you really need and love 🙂

      1. I’m a palette collector lol. That’s why I’m surprised I don’t have the chocolate bar yet. I love how it smells like chocolate :). If you get a chance what my video .. It’s based on my current favorite products xo

    1. That is not an easy thing to do! But you have to chose the right products of it! If you already own several highlighters and bronzers – it is better to invest money in a good contour shade but if you want to try the kit – why not? is a nice option to go for 🙂

  2. Both the Too Faced eyeshadow palettes are on my wishlist and you bought both of them! Aaaah so envious and well done!! I really want both of them but it feels like the Chocolate Bar Palette has some of the shades in the Natural Eyes Palette so I feel guilty if I purchase both 😦

    1. Well, although some shades may seem similar in both palettes – the are not in reality. The highlighting shade Heaven in Natural eyes is yellower and more warm toned than white chocolate that is neutral beige. Silk Teddy is way more lighter than Marzipan, Push-Up is more rose toned than Hazelnut. Honey Pot has way more golden tones in it and is lighter than Creme Brûlée. Other shades are not comparable. The Natural Eye palette is a wonderful option if you travel a lot – as it is smaller and lighter in weight. But the Chocolate Bar is a perfect choice for daily use and it allows you to create tons of different looks. So, you may actually have both and there won’t be any dupes 😀

      1. Haha I’m not sure if that’s good or bad news for me… Good for me, bad for my wallet? 😛 I saw that Beauty Bay is having a promotion for the Natural Eye Palette and I’m soooo tempted to get it! Perhaps I will mull over it for a while more, I do seem to also think that the Chocolate Bar Palette might be better if I really have to choose only one of the two. Thanks for the analysis!! 😀
