March is already over and this month was the first sign of long-awaited spring and as a result there were the launches of new spring and summer collections filled the anticipation of sun and bright colors, light textures and sweet smells. I don’t have too many favorites this month but there are some major discoveries that I will be happy to share with you!
The only one winter reminder that I just wasn’t able to part with in March is the sweetest Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar small candle ($4.50). The brand describes the scent as a mix of rich vanilla, spices, coconut, sandal wood and musk. As for me I can smell exactly the warm vanilla – so there is a distinguishable vanilla flavor but spiced up due to spices and sandalwood in the wax. When you burn this candle it smells exactly like winter and fireplace and snow – it is able to fill the room with warmth and sweetness and I like it in early spring when it’s still windy and a little bit cold outside.
The habit to take a good care of my skin comes from cold winter times when it is crucial. And I’m happy to tell you that I have discovered an amazing product in terms of hydration that also acts perfectly as a makeup base. For the whole month already I cannot imagine applying my makeup with this base and I can say that I am obsessed with The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet (£12.00 or $18.00). It has an amazing soft texture that turns into water once you apply it on your face (take a look at the swatches at the end of the post). It nourishes the skin and smoothes the surface really well making the flawless application of foundations or concealers possible. I do recommend this product for those with dry skin – I guarantee you’ll love it! But people with oily skin might not be as happy with this moisturizer as it can increase the oiliness of the skin.
A part of my recent Makeup Haul (post will be published later this week – stay tuned!) – Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer + Treatment in Brightener ($9.99) – really did impress me! No wonder beauty bloggers all over the world have been raving about this amazing concealer for ages now! And finally I caved in and purchased it. I already own several concealers in beige colors both highlighting and regular, so I decided to try out the newest addition to the line – the rose-colored Brightener (160). This concealer does make a difference in terms of highlighting the under-eye area. It also have a very nice coverage that is quite enough to hide my slightly dark under-eye circles and is ideal for daily use. I also love this nice spheric sponge on top that prevents the concealer from drying. Totally an amazing product!
If you were reading my previous posts you know that I really liked the newest line extension in Bourjois powders – Bourjois Silk Edition Compact Powder (£9.99 or $15.00). This powder is silky smooth, applies perfectly invisible due to extremely finely milled texture and stays on your face for the whole day. It is also very versatile as it acts perfectly well on foundation, cream or base. This powder provides light coverage that is ideal for spring and summer. And most of all I love how natural and practically invisible it looks on the skin! There’s a full review dedicated to this powder only – take a look if you want to know more about this gorgeous product.
I couldn’t wait for spring to come (I am not a winter person, honestly) therefore I started looking for a brightening eye pencil for the upcoming season and I found a perfect one in March! MAC Snowed In Technakohl Liner ($16.00) has a wonderful silvery champagne color to it, stays on my waterline till I wash my makeup off and looks so brightening and refreshing and not as ordinary as a beige pencil does. It has a very good semi-opaque color payoff that allows it to look very natural on the eyes. You can check the swatches down below!
There was no chance that I could leave MAC counter with a single product! And I’m happy that I finally found the MAC Hip’n’Happy Lip Pencil ($16.00) of a cool-toned muted light pink that is such a rare find in any brands nowadays! It is a perfect color for me because if have very strong cool undertones to my skin and warm-toned pencils and lip colors can sometimes look not that right. You can wear this lip pencil alone for beautiful matte effect on your lips and it won’t dry out your lips completely – I tested this out when I suffered from very dry lips this month. And I goes well with all rose-colored lipsticks and lip glosses that I own. A very nice lip pencil to have in your collection if you like cool-toned pinks on your lips.
What are monthly favorites without another favorite lip product! I have already heard so many good things about the Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm (£7.99 or $11.85), that I now own in color Demure, and I was really happy I liked this balm so much that it even made it to my monthly favorites! This balm has a beautiful rosy-peach color with tons of silver sparkles in it and it smells so minty! Love it! To my mind this color is very much spring appropriate, the texture is very light and feels like a true balm on your lips. I can even say it gives some moisturizing effect to my lips and stays on for 3-4 hours on me so there’s no need to reapply it frequently. It travels in my handbag with me all the time!
And finally, there’s another eye-makeup item that I have become a huge fan of this month – the Physicians Formula Jumbo Lash Mascara ($9.95), that deserves all the attention it gets. It is an ultra black volumizing mascara that does exactly what is says – gives you amazing voluminous black lashes. The tube looks so cute so it’s another plus for the Physicians Formula and at the same time it is very comfortable to use. I have to admit, it is a very nice product for your daily routine.
And now these are the swatches of the majority of products we have talked about today:
