What are your favorite products for a winged liner?

Over the last couple of years winged liner has become a huge trend in makeup – it makes your makeup look more polished and eye-catching. And makeup brands offer us tons of different products of a huge variety of colors to create the famous ‘winged liner’. And I wonder what products are the most popular for this purpose? Liquid eyeliners? or maybe pencils? or probably gel eyeliners?

Tell me what types of eyeliners have you tried? Which has become your makeup staples? And what have you found most trouble with? Have your mastered the winged liner? Or still struggle a little bit?

I believe I tried almost every type of eyeliner on the market, from felt-tip applicator eyeliner up to gels and creams. I feel confident using the felt tip applicator as it allows the most precise and easiest application for me. On the other hand I sometimes find it a little bit difficult to use liquid eyeliners with the long hand and more often than not I will mess up my eye look using it. I really like to use cream and gel liner only when I have enough time to do that as it implies twice as mush work with an angled brush and an actual product.

I can honestly say I have a lot of experience creating a winged liner, but from time to time I can’t do the liner exactly the same way on both eyes. I believe it is impossible to do it perfectly all the time, unless you use the tape to outline the wing (that I personally do not recommend). I think you just have to deal with the fact that the winged liner can’t always look the same on the both eyes. And there’s a little secret – people won’t notice this little difference – especially when you use a mascara.

I will be happy to hear what you think and what products you like!

Thank you very much for your attention.

Have an amazing day!

Hugs and kisses,

  1. My favorite eyeliner is definitely liquid liners in pen form! I have a lot of drugstore favorites but Maybelline Master Precise is my favorite! Revlon Colorstay has a great liquid eyeliner pen as well. They have a firm tip, but they’re flexible enough to work with! 🙂

    1. I love the Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner – it’s truly awesome! Allows you to easily draw both thick and thin liner with a nice wing:) I will definitely check the Revlon’s eyeliner, thanks for the tip!

  2. I like the felt tip applicators best too, although I’m pretty curious to try the gel eyeliners. I’ve recently found the best liquid eyeliner I’ve ever used and it’s the Korean brand CLIO’s Waterproof Pen Liner! And hmm my winged liners aren’t consistently good but most days I’m able to create a decent wing. Some days I’m not really feeling it and my wing just goes all wrong. I’ll then try to salvage it but end up making it worse ><

    1. Korean brands have recently really mastered their eyeliners and I’m thinking of trying the one from Tony Moly. Gel eyeliners could be a very nice option in terms of wear time and a beautiful matte finish. If you have trouble of creating a good liner and messed up a little bit – try using a pointed q-tip with the oil-free makeup remover on it and correct a bit of the wing – it works really well for me 😉 and as I said – nobody will notice a little difference 🙂

      1. I’ve heard good things about the Tony Moly Gel Liner too! If you do get it I’m looking forward to your reviews 🙂 I really do need to get onto using q-tips to correct my makeup mistakes, at the moment I’m just using my fingers or tissues which sometimes makes things worse (duh, idk why I still do it though) ><

    1. Mac fluid line is a wonderful product for sure! I feel that tape could be a little too much for a sensitive eye area – but it allows you to create a perfect wing and from time to time I cannot find an excuse not to use it to look perfect;)

  3. I love the KIKO precision eye liner, the tip is perfect for get a winged eyeliner look and it does not leave a glossy finish like some liners can leave. It instantly dries matte and last the whole day without flaking or smudging.

  4. I started out with gel liners, but couldn’t make it work with an angled brush. Then I switched over to Kat von D’s tattoo liner with pretty good results. I’ve started using gel liner again, but I’ve found I can only use it with a pointy brush. Still can’t figure out how to make it work with an angled brush haha.

    1. Using an angled brush can sometimes be tricky – you have to really find the one – the most comfortable and easy to use! But once you get it applying gel liner will be a very easy task to do:) btw, Kat Von D’ liner is a great product!
