Hello, gorgeous!

Today we keep discussing glowing makeup looks and different ways to achieve it. If you have been reading my blog for a while – you know about the Ultimate Glow series and this post is the third part of it. The first step in creating fresh and radiant look is using glowing makeup bases that we have already talked about a couple of weeks ago. Last week I dedicated a Friday post to amazing foundations that can help you get the ‘glow-from-within’ appearance and even out the skin tone. Makeup basses and foundations are devoted to enhance your appearance, but they are not that good at hiding imperfections, highlighting under-eye area or smoothing fine lines due to almost transparent consistency of bases and light texture of foundations. And in this case we have to turn to highlighting concealers that are really good at achieving these goals. And, by the way, you can wear concealers even without the foundation for daily looks when you don’t want to have too many layers of makeup in your face – concealers have an amazing ability of blending in with your skin perfectly and staing pretty much invisible throughout the day.

Highlighting concealers have been quite a hit on the drugstore market lately and all makeup brands in this sector launched their own versions of it. My recent finding is the L’oreal Magic Lumi (Lumi Magique) Highlighter/Concealer ($12.95 or £8.49).

I really like this highlighting concealer as the texture of the product is extremely lightweight and blends in with your skin perfectly. The highlighting effect is achieved due to the tiniest iridescent particles that are absolutely invisible on the skin. This highlighter has a very light coverage and is a perfect product for under eye area. It stays put all day if you top it with powder and it doesn’t dry out the sensitive skin under your eyes. It has a brush tip applicator that I am personally not a biggest fan of as I prefer applying it as dots on the skin and then blending it in with my finger tips. As a result you get perfectly healthy and brightened skin.

The closest rival of the L’oreal highlighter and my absolute favorite is the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Eye Cream (£7.99 or $11.95).

I love to use this concealer daily is it have a very blendable texture and I find the color Ivory to be a perfect under-eye highlighter of my NW20 skin tone. Whenever I don’t want to use any foundation I grab this beautiful highlighter and it instantly brightens my dark circles and stays absolutely undetectable on the face. Topped with powder it will definitely last you the whole day and I never experience any creasing with it. By the way, this concealer-highlighter is a part of the Bourjois 123Perfect complexion series and goes amazingly well with Bourjois 123Perfect CC cream, that we have already talked about in the glowing foundations post. The consistency of the product is very thin and it is not supposed to cover any blemishes or scars, but to provide you with very natural highlight as it is definitely illuminating though i cannot see any sparkling particles in it.

The next product is I believe the most famous concealer nowadays – Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer ($29.00).

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla

That is quite an expensive product but the amount of 0.22 oz. or 6ml will last you a very long time even if you use it daily. It has an amazing creamy consistency and unbelievably good coverage for a brightening concealer. I personally find the texture a bit too heavy for my liking and I do not tend to use it daily. But this Nars concealer is an amazing product for photographs and special occasions because it will make your under-eye are look photoshopped, part of the face that you highlighted it with will look very natural and smooth. It’s a very good product to consider for important events as it is very long-lasting and looks beautiful as the finish is very glowy. And this Nars concealer also has a very comfortable doe-foot applicator and a huge color range.

Another product that offers a very good coverage and a decent brightening effect is Max Factor Mastertouch Concealer (£7.99 or $11.95).

This product has the light-to-medium coverage and is very blendable. Applied both with your fingers or a beauty blender it delivers smooth application and covers the dark circles nicely. It is supposed to have a light-diffusing formula that allows it to brighten the area it is applied to and perfectly smooth any imperfections. And it also has a very unusual fluffy applicator that can be very useful on the go.

Another one of my top picks is the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer ($7.99).

This concealer was created especially for highlighting purposes and does the job really well. It delivers a very noticeable brightening effect due to tiny sparkles in the consistency of the product. It is also very lightweight but at the same time it has a very good coverage as it deals with dark circles perfectly. It is also good at smoothing the area you apply it to and filling in the visible pores. You can use it all over your face to achieve a natural highlighting glowy effect as it blends in nicely with your foundation. It stays invisible throughout the day and has a very good wear time.

My next choice of highlighting concealers in MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter ($26.00).

MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter in Radiant Rose

This product is not a concealer and was never supposed to be one. The color I own is Radiant rose and it is distinguishably pink compared to other highlighters/concealers. The main idea of this product is to highlight some specific areas on your face and to brighten the under eyes. The consistency is quite sheer and very, very soft to touch. You can blend it to nothing and if layered it will make any product put over it brighter. It looks very beautiful when the light hits it on your face due to tiniest iridescent particles in the texture of the highlighter. Applied to your face it instantly brightens it up, makes your eyes look well-rested and covers the under-eye circles nicely. The brush tip applicator is strangely convenient to use but nevertheless I tend to apply it with the dabbing motion of my fingers.

And finally, there’s a L’oreal True Match Concealer ($8.99).

Even though it is less a highlighter and more a concealer I love to use this product together with my favorite L’oreal True match foundation. The product has a very silky texture, more a gel-like one as the matching foundation does and it also has a really good coverage, that is very much comparable to Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. It blends in with the skin quite well and the finish it dries to is satin, but still looks quite brightening and light-reflecting. It is my go-to product when I find my under-eye circles too dark and visible and it miraculously erases them from my face, making my eyes look fresh and rested.

Here are the swatches of the products in question for texture comparison (darker or lighter shades exist in my collection due to winter/summer/tan skin color I tend to have throughout the year):

L'oreal Lumi Magique Concealer in Light, Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Eye Cream in Ivory, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla, Max Factor Mastertouch Concealer in Fair, Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in Nude, MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter in Radiant Rose, L'oreal True Match Concealer in Cream Swatches

All these products you may use to create a glowing look and each and every one of them perform beautifully in terms of adding radiance and health to your skin. I sincerely hope my post was entertaining and useful for you. I would also be happy to hear what you think of these concealers/highlighters. Do you own any of them?
