Top 5 under $5 Makeup Products

Essence All About Sunrise eyeshadow palette, Sephora Collection Nano eyeliner, NYX powder blush, Essence Soo Glow! Cream to Powder Highlighter, NYX Butter Gloss

Hello, gorgeous!

In the rivaling world of makeup companies find themselves in the constant struggle to win our appreciation over their competitors. And at some point the price for the products they produce determines the winner. Offering budget friendly prices along with high competitive quality of the product and a decent packaging is from now on a mainstream on the consumer cosmetics market.

Amongst the brands stating a very attractive price on their products are the very well-known Essence, Nyx and Sephora. Besides these three companies, there are more makeup producers on the western markets, but today I will present you my top 5 picks from the brands mentioned above as I personally love to use those products daily and find them as good as my luxury makeup items of not even better sometimes.

The first one will be one of my favorite summer eyeshadow palettes by Essence – Essence All About Sunrise eyeshadow palette ($4.99). Essence have already issued this palette in 6 different color themes and practically all them tend to perform pretty descent. The palette I own features bronzy-gold shades with one highlighter shade and one crease shade. Four shades out of the bunch are quite glittery and I find them very beautiful. On the photo below all of the eyeshadows are applied over the Nars Smudgeproof eyeshadow base as I always use a base underneath all of my eyeshadows. And as you can see the color pay-off is gorgeous, the colors work really well together and you can easily create a lot of summery looks with it.

If you want line the waterline, to draw the colored line or the smudge the liner on your lower lashes – you can get the Sephora Collection Nano eyeliner ($5.00) and the one I have is in color 08 Iced Brown. Is is twice as short as their usual eyeliners but is very convenient to take on the go or on a vacations as it is so tiny. The product is supposed to be infused with the shea butter for extra smoothness and it does glide on pretty easily leaving a very noticeable line. I believe this particular bronzy sparkly color goes really well with the palette from Essence mentioned above.

I also really love the NYX powder blush ($5.00) in dusty rose that seems to be the most popular NYX blush besides Taupe. At this price point product delivers a great color pay-off. The packaging is black and quite sleek though it’s a little bit small. The color is a really nice mauve pink and it is very appropriate blush for practically any makeup look. It is also fool-proof and you won’t be able to overdo your blush even if you get too much product at once on your brush.

The highlighter is a major drawback of the drugstore brands and you can rarely get a good product of that type there. But luckily Essence launched their Essence Soo Glow! Cream to Powder Highlighter ($3.49) is two colors. The one on the photo is more rosy, the other one leans gold. Both of the highlighter are just amazing – extremely good color payoff, no distinguishable sparkles, very bendable and easy to apply – and its cream to powder meaning it doesn’t need to be topped with powder highlighter. I am so happy with this product that I can definitely recommend it to you. It lasts all day and looks as good as most of the high-end highlighters.

And finally, I think there’s no beauty blogger that haven’t raved about NYX Butter Gloss ($5.00). It is a wonderful lip gloss with very buttery texture that makes your lips smooth and feels very moisturizing. The color range is extensive with warm and cool colors and the amount of product you get is quite a lot. The gloss stays put for four hours on me and I find it quite glossy and flattering. The color I have is beautiful Crème Brulee and it’s just a gorgeous nude!

Affordable brands definitely have a lot to offer nowadays and it is worth checking out. Most of the products you will probably like and some may even become your makeup staples. I love the products I presented you as a really good quality of the product goes along with great price.

I hope this post was both useful and entertaining for you.

Do you own any of these products? What do you think about these brands? What other drugstore gems for such an affordable price you know? I will be happy to hear what you think!
